Slacker has been having major issues for the past 2 months. Not sure if update related but I had to switch to FM.

It’s related to LTE throttling. Go to fast.com in your car browser and see how slow the LTE is. I use my iPhone as WiFi hotspot and steaming works well again (temporary solution until Tesla figures out better buffering/opens the LTE pipe)

A friend got a new 90D this summer and I noticed he was parked pulled all the way over a curb with his suspension set to high. I informed hm that was a dangerous practice as the owners manual states the suspension may settle/lower when the vehicle is off. I see this as an education point for customer deliveries to highlight that the air suspension may settle or lower once parks so don’t pull over curbs.

I just looked through the owners manual and nowhere does it state that the suspension may settle downward on to surfaces when the vehicle is off. It just says it can still auto-adjust when the vehicle is off.

As others have described, the air suspension does seem to "settle" inordinately when parked. Almost worse, when you get back in and it adjusts , it seems to lower first and then raise...or minimally, it raises the rear then the front. As described, I have pulled into spots over a parking curb just fine, only to scrape when reversing. I'm hyper aware of it now. I have also started to park and raise the suspension to high just to avoid issues. Finally, I had it lower once really crazy in a spot that was at a weird angle. I had to raise ot to high and then put it back to standard for it to recalibrate correctly.

Drlev, I’m sorry you are disappointed at week one. I too was a little disappointed when my week old MS75D had to go in for service. But if you read around here, that seems to be par for the course, and things like this happen to lots of folks (door handle, or other mechanics). Once the local SC gets things in order, it seems our Teslas are pretty dang awesome.

What I’m saying are that growing pains are real for these cars, you’re not an isolated case.

Lastly, let’s be honest. Who’s to blame for the parking and curb fiasco? I’m used to driving Corvettes, and you never get within 10’ of a curb with that car.

You are correct. Maybe it was something my delivery specialist warned me about when I took delivery.

Update!

The car put itself into Jack Mode when it detected that it was on a lift while getting my state’s inspection. At any rate, they’re going to fix the front spoiler for no charge because the car did not notify me that it was in Jack Mode until it was already parked over a curb and there’s nothing in the manual that truly warns you of this happening.

Door handle’s fixed now too.

Overall satisfied with my first service experience.

Good to hear it was resolved! Some things on this car do wind up taking awhile to learn. I don't have air suspension, but I still feel better about backing in, the rear diffuser is much higher off the ground than the front splitter.

Any better luck with streaming radio yet? I have issues once in awhile, but it's usually in the same problem spots for reception.

That's great news! I would recommend back-in parking normally, that way you get to use the camera. I can also say from personal experience that if you do ride-up on a curb slightly it WILL go into jack mode in response to that. So definitely keep the nose away from curbs.

I’m glad they are taking care of the damage for you. That’s great service.

However, I disagree with their assessment. Jack mode locks the air suspension in its current position. It also cancels at a vehicle speed of 4.5 miles per hour. I don’t know how you would have gotten to your destination with it still in jack mode or how the car would have adjusted the suspension height while in jack mode.

I think the car probably did it’s typical automatic leveling (and frequently lowering) when you parked over the parking curb. When the car bottomed out and its height stopped responding to suspension adjustments, the car figured it was on a lift (or a jack) and engaged jack mode to prevent further movement as a safety precaution.

Just my $0.02 about how the system works and what likely happened.

I’m very happy that it worked out in the end.

I have the vehicle tilting on the passenger rear side which is about 6 inches too low than the driver side and the jack mode message is shown on a 2 month old car. No scraping of underbody though. Called service 3 days ago - actually called 2 service centers. The first SC has not yet called me back - left a voice mail explaining my problem. The second SC called me in the Evening (yesterday) and told me the tech has not had the time to review my cars logs so we cannot pinpoint the problem. So today I happen to be close to the SC so I personally stopped in but still no answer. He told me once the tech looks at the logs and determines what to do they would order the parts and then call me. I also told them I need to go on a 2500 mile road trip in early January 2018 and would be away a month so a loaner is out of question. Making me rethink my purchase if service is like this. Also had the Jack Mode message on the driver console yesterday. May need to escalate this.

Driev, Can you tell me which service center handled this for you and how long it took. Thanks

Owings Mills, Maryland. They’ve been exceptionally responsive and have never failed to pick up the phone during service hours.

Good to hear.

Did they mention anything about the slacker radio buffering and loading errors? It's something that's worked fine for me in the over 2 years I've had my Tesla but in the past several months stopped and is very annoying.

They know it’s been a problem for a few months and has to do with throttling, though I’m not sure if it’s Tesla doing the throttling or AT&T.

Owings Mills is by far the best service center in this area. Great guys to deal with. They are human and don't always get it right the first time but they always make it right and to me that what's counts. Congrats on your new car. Join the Mid-Atlantic club. We have periodic get togethers that you might enjoy (when the weather gets warmer).

Update
My Model S75D was picked up early this afternoon by the Tow/Delivery service used by The Devon Service Center for further diagnostic and parts replacement. I was brought an older Model S 60 with appx 25,000 plus miles. I also asked them to uncork it while they had it in for suspension work. They tell me it was already uncorked before delivery. Anyway, my Model S 75D feels significantly faster than this Model S 60. So let’s see what tomorrow brings
