my question is i'm not sure if it covers what you just described and was seeking clarity from this group - Alternative Fuels Data Center: Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit
The tax credit for your home EV charger covers the hardware (charger, electrical wiring, breakers, etc.) and installation (electrician, permits). There isn't a specific credit for the NEMA 14-50 plug (which is a 120/240V AC 50 amp plug) but it is covered under the "hardware" portion. Depending on the amps of your wall charger, you may not need a 50amp plug and the additional cost of a beefier electrical wire from panel to plug.
If you use tax prep software, it will help with asking you questions on your EV car purchase that end up on the 8911 form.
