It's a good thing this is a serious, life threatening situation, otherwise I might think he's auditioning for the part of Drama Queen in a school play.

Well wasn't he the perfect Signature customer:
“I feel like I just married a woman who has been married before,” he said.

Good times. It's your car, do with it what pleases you I say :)

I can't say I didn't feel a super high level of frustration dealing with Tesla while waiting for my car... But nothing on the level to make me damage it on arrival (they offered him a heck of a lot more than they did me too).

He just smashed the windshield though, so he probably wanted to vent in a manner that's easily fixed so he can go on to enjoy the car

Tesla really does need to work on their communication though. It's probably been my biggest beef with the company.

I hope Tesla does nothing for him. It's like giving in to a toddler's tantrum. He can deal with the consequences of his actions.

A lot of rich people in China behave just like that: Like spoiled toddlers. If they don't get what they want here and now, they start crying.

If you are rich, you get what you want, and expect special service and treatment, because you are rich. And because you pay the bribes and have the right connections. Those habits don't go well together with the virtues of patience and understanding.

Having said that, I agree that communication is one of the areas where Tesla Motors have most to gain.

He chose to take delivery before there was a service center in his area and I hope Tesla puts the priority of his windshield repair at the end of the line.

I can't stand people like this. It's his car, so he can do what he likes, but nothing takes away that he's being a little bitch.

Big ego trip, I think especially since he apparently admitted to wanting to be one of the first.

    Well he got his wish.

First Tesla owner in the world to smash his own windshield!

    Dubious honor.

Does that mean you'll be smashing more than just the front windshield when you finally get your car?

Meh, a new windshield costs like $1200 installed. I'm sure this guy got more than his $1200 in free publicity. Net win for him.

here in HK we get cover for windshield. perhaps he's got one of those so the windshield would be "free"
