Display stuck at 74mph, while car drove just fine

The MCU can freeze up. I've only had it happen ~5 times in a year/27K mi of ownership, others experience it more frequently. Sometimes it may reboot by itself. It won't affect the car's ability to be driven, but it can be disconcerting. BTW, you can reboot while driving.

Reboot and reset instructions for your Tesla - Tesla Info Option 1 should do it for you, otherwise 3.

The title should read, "Display stuck at 74mph, while car drove just fine". I came here thinking this is one of the Toyota things.

Yes, I have done it twice to test it out. It's weird but the car functions just fine. I think some stuff don't work like blinkers? I forgot exactly what didn't work besides the stuff controlled by the MCU.
