Disposing of a car with a dead battery

I have a 2013 model s that is out of warranty and the battery is dead and I refuse to pay for the 13k new battery. What do I do with the car since Tesla won't take it off my hands?

There are shops around the country that can repair/replace dead battery modules to bring life back to the car.

Otherwise contact auto dismantlers/recyclers in your area to see if they will take an electric car.

Would it make sense to pay to replace the battery and then resell the vehicle?

I've seen people posting up dead 2013 Model S on Facebook Marketplace and getting $15+ plus for the car. I'd suggest going that route.

Put a battery in it and sell it for $35,000. Otherwise it will be worth $35,000 less the cost of a battery. Not bad!

Yea, unless there is something else wrong, a new battery is a no brainer, let tesla install it and then you can use it or sell it. Market is still pretty hot ATM

I doubt we’ll ever see OP again, but “refusing” to install a new battery (to stick it to Tesla?) is goofy in this market.

You’d almost certainly come our way ahead selling a car with a recently installed battery with a 4y/50k warranty vs. selling non-running.

If that's the case they DEFINITELY should find a way to borrow $13k for a few weeks. Great ROI.

The odd thing is the 13K Battery. A new battery on the MY is 22k so not sure where that price came from unless it was a used one

what is the mileage on the car?
