Distance for unlock / lock doors

What distance do you have to be for a phone key to unlock / lock doors? I don't have a garage at home and I'm worried that just moving around in the house (driveway is right beside the house) will unlock the car doors.

You can test it pretty easily...if you have a "friend" with you...have someone stand at the car attempting to open the door. Move closer to the car with the phone until the other person can actually open the door...

It locks at about 15 feet, so probably about the same distance to unlock. But I'm not sure.

For me, it does not appear to be exclusively distance based. The car has locked on me when I am a few feet away from it after a period of time. Otherwise, it locks as it senses my phone moving away from it at around 15 to 20 feet pretty much every time when I park in the garage.
