i created my first mod and finally installed it today. I always thought the center console as too dark and miss having some light there like my previous cars. I bought a thin strip light with a usb connector and ran it down the center console, up behind the sliding cover of the center storage/cup holder box and double sided taped it to the bottom of the frame around the screen. Cannot see any wires and it looks pretty factory.
The light was way too bright so I used some black wiring tape to darken the light and it ended up being perfect! It provides a nice dim glow to see the large storage bin and also provides a nice light for the aftermarket drawer I purchased. Pictures don’t reflect the brightness well but I can say it is about the same brightness as the bmw glow provided from the rear view mirror ambient light (see last picture)
