DIY cubby box

I enjoy making things so I thought I'd take a stab at the cubby box.

Total parts was about $37. The suede and velvet came from Hobby Lobby, the foam board from Lowes.

I started by making a paper template. I then transfered that to the foam board once I felt it was good.

I used 3M 77(headliner spray glue) to attach the fabric to the box. The rest is pretty self explanatory.

I think I'll make another at some point. I'm happy with this one but I'd like to try sewing the seams. I did this just to kill a little time while I wait for the football game today.

Yea R2 just sat over there watching and making smart ass comments.

Oh yeah! football! I forgot thats still being played. My team (Detroit) got bounced last week so there isn't much left to cheer for on my end.

Typical R2 ;)

Nice job! How is the fit? Snug?
Care to post the measurements of the cardboard cutout? Just sharpie mark measurements on the cutout photo you have and post! Wifey has a Cricut machine I'd love to try out
Btw you can make one great improvement to your design. Get a couple cheap magnets and stick one on the back of the cubby hole and the other on the box! Will prevent the cubby box from accidentally sliding out when you are showing off ludicrous... or just plain tesla :) :)
Cheers

I made it so the fit is snug. It will not fly out. The prototype is already gone out with the trash unfortunately. If I take it apart for 2.0 version I'll post measurements, but for me it literally took about 10 minutes to get my paper pieces made just sitting in the car.
