Do model 3s get free supercharging or not? I have heard conflicting opinions.
Techincally, no, but in reality it looks like Tesla has yet to put this limitation in place for some superchargers.
So, 3 owners that are currently getting free charging could have it revoked at any point.
They do not. However Tesla seems to routinely run promotions for referrals and other such that give people who buy a Model 3 performance with a referral code can get free unlimited supercharging. Only for a limited time, supposedly.
Model S, Model X and Model 3 Performance: Free Unlimited Supercharging
Owners can give five friends free, unlimited Supercharging with the purchase of a new Model S, Model X or Model 3 Performance. After September 16, 2018, full unlimited Supercharging will go away and owners will be able to give friends one year of unlimited Supercharging.
Some Supercharger sites are free for everyone because the site hosts pays for the electricity instead of Tesla.
I believe orders placed for the Model 3 Dual Motor by September 15 or 16 get free lifetime superchargeing.
Nope, only the Performance version with the use of a referral code.
That is a dual motor.
Yes, but you can't get free Supercharging on a normal dual motor Model 3. It is on valid on a Performance dual motor Model 3.
Doesn’t matter if the Model 3 owners gets free Sulercharging or not. The owner just has to pay. All that matters is this adds to the congestion at certain locations , like Qualcomm.
But not all dual motors are performance versions.
I know. The only Model 3 with a badge on the trunk is the Performance Model, and it’s designated “Dual Motor.”
Wrong again. The normal AWD Model 3 will come with the Dual Motor badge as well, just without the underline indicating that it is the performance model. (At least that is what I have seen, but it is hard to know since not even the Performance model is coming with the badge at this point.)
And what does that have to do with Supercharging?
Thanks all for your answers.. wonder what that will do to eventual wait times as I doubt the network will be able to keep up with the demand?
Do you doubt that the network will continue to grow with demand?
Not in my experience with my M3.
Only Model 3 Dual Motor Performance models are eligible for free supercharging. Orders places before August 1st get it automatically. Orders after August 1st have to have used a referral code to get it.
If anyone would like a referral code, PM me...
Where on the account does the supercharge fee show up? I can't seem to find it. I supercharged yesterday and the car shows $5.20, but can't find it online. Maybe a delay on the website updating the info?
Look under History. You will find your supercharger costs there.
@ScottRoberts33, sometimes it’s better to stop posting and listen if you’re that misinformed.
