So, as I posted in the other thread, I got a call from Tesla Delivery Coordination in Nevada this afternoon informing me that there was a Model Y spec'd the same as mine except for with black interior instead of white that was in Rockville, and asking if I wanted to take delivery. I wanted to add a bit more color to the story.

After seeing Ryan Shaw on Youtube able to get delivery quicker this weekend by modifying his order to take another available VIN, I thought I might be able to accelerate my delivery too, so I chatted with Tesla via online chat on Monday morning to tell them I'd be interested in possibly modifying my order to take delivery sooner, if possible, and indicated a willingness to adjust color scheme. They said they'd pass that along to a Delivery Coordinator and someone would call me. Sure enough, that evening a got a call from Nevada, and the person asked what options I'd be willing to adjust, and I indicated color. She said she'd check what was in my area and call me back. 45 Min later, she texted and said there were no VINs available in my area as of now.

So today, thinking that perhaps as the week had gone on, others may not have gone through with their purchase, I chatted again and mentioned that I'd spoken to someone earlier. The chat person this time directly confirmed what colors I'd be willing to swap to, and said they would pass along but obviously couldn't guaranty anything. Sure enough a couple hours later, the same delivery coordinator called me and this time said they had a blue performance that someone had not purchased available at the Rockville MD tesla center, and did I want it? She said they'd have to have it transported (I had selected Owings Mills MD as my center) but I told her that Rockville isn't that far and I'll just take it there, and she added the VIN to my account and about 45 min later I got an e-mail confirming the changed order, and my page had updated to ask for payment, which I promptly made. I haven't heard from Rockville yet but assume I will soon, and the MVPA is up on my account so I think I'm good to go.

Moral of the story, it can never hurt to ask, and everyone I spoke with or chatted with at Tesla was surprisingly eager to help and look into it (perhaps they've had enough sales fall through due to coronavirus that there are a lot of these out there, not sure). I kept expecting them to just say nope, wait your turn we'll call you don't call us, but in fact each time they were willing to see if somethng was out there.

I realize these are tough times and a car is kind of irrelevent (for me it's just a welcome distraction from being stuck in my house), obviously doesn't matter with the bigger things going on, but I'm still certainly excited, and I wanted to share this with others who may want to take delivery but not think it will be possible until their number comes up after the factory restart.

Good luck everyone.

I haven't called Nevada, but someone on a Facebook forum suggested calling the Fremont factory directly. So I did. Person I spoke to said I could make changes, but I needed to talk to my delivery center, who then directed me to my delivery specialist... Who currently isn't responding to my messages. I think I'll call the Nevada facility in the morning. I'm antsy because of financing and trade-in more than anything else, so I'm happy to make changes.

Interesting story but it was a little confusing mentioning that the coordination center was in Nevada., while you are located in Maryland.

The Nevada location seems to be where most of the coordination is coming from. They called me last week to confirm my order, financing, and trade-in information. I'm hearing that's the case for most people.

I spoke with my delivery specialist in Fremont, said there aren't any available in my area....

Just a heads up for Rockville, I picked up my Y on 3/30 after changing my exterior color from black to MSM and with the governor issuing the stay at home order, they said they were not doing deliveries for awhile. I was originally scheduled for 3/31 but got called to come in on 3/30 if I wanted my car, so I did. They mentioned they might start looking to do the touchless deliveries like other states, but hadn’t been told they could as of the 30th. May have changed between then and now though.

this. The person that called me was from Nevada but said that once my VIN was assigned the Maryland local people would contact me. So I have VIN and have paid and I believe my car is at the delivery center. I will call them tomorrow if I don’t hear anything. I’m hoping they start doing touchless but regardless having a car that I know is there is pretty exciting. But thanks for the heads up re: Rockville.

Congrats.. when you swapped, did you have to pay the difference?

Rockville is great to deal with! Just call and ask if they have any available spot for delivery and if they do they will do it. I called and ask if we could move up the date for a delivery and they said they would call us back in the morning and sure enough they did and we picked up 4 days early! Good luck and I saw the blue performance model Y there. So it’s there for sure.

So...I've been working with the delivery specialist in Nevada for swapping my White/White LR to White/White PUP. Today got the call saying there's nothing in the area and with the factory shutdown they have no idea when the production will start again. They don't have any performance model to deliver/swap etc. Not sure how accurate that is.

Now I think I'll wait the few months after the factory opens again. no more T.O.R.S.O :)

Yeah, was told the same thing last night - oh well can't drive anywhere now anyway.....

I just had the Tucson Rangers at my house today to rotate tires on our M3 and he said there is ONE MY in Tucson, didn't asked the configuration, as our is a RWD, LR, White Interior, Red Exterior, 20" rims, I'm guessing maybe early 2021 I might see ours......:(

Crazy! I had the white interior on my 3 so switched to black for a change - should ship quicker. I’m guessing late May to mid June for delivery - production should re- start by early May at the latest I expect. Good luck! Hope to see you around town before long...
