295 is not a typo here is my table from way back in the day

    -----
    S60 208 miles range 5.9 sec 0-60 120 mph
    S60D 225 miles range 5.7 sec 0-60 125 mph
    S85 265 miles range 5.4 sec 0-60 125 mph
P85 265 miles range 4.2 sec 0-60 130 mph (odd duck with the lower top speed but better acceleration than the S85D)
S85D 295 miles range 5.2 sec 0-60 155 mph (king of range with no loss of top speed)
P85D 275 miles range 3.2 sec 0-60 155 mph (king of acceleration with some loss of range)
    -----

The range listed was at a constant speed on flat ground at 65 mph.

EPA is at variable speed, starting, stopping, higher max speed. A lot of wasted energy going from 0-whatever multiple times per test. If you drive like that constantly wasting brake pads and electricity you'll get worse range.

EPA range, 65 mph range, and 75 mph range at the time of change in 2014 is listed at Driving Range for the Model S Family

Thanks for the post. Very helpful. Why couldn't the Tesla folks reference their own post here while answering my questions!

The good news here is that P85 is only 10 miles lower at 285, so I'm a happy camper!

Not to split hairs here but that really is technically a typo then. The show the non EPA range for awd and the EPA range for other cars. Very hard to comparison shop that way. But thank you again!

Gunned it a little too hard many times on the way back. It's nuts. It's a beautiful car. It's also huge, coming from a two seater Saturn sky convertible! Somehow the test drive car felt smaller :p

    Very nice...Congrats again!

Those 21" in metallic greys? Was thinking about getting them with summer tires and switch out the 19" with winter tires.

Yup they are 21" gray turbines. I was planning on on doing just that in the winter. Could not get a straight answer on what will happen with tpms if I buy newer wheels. If I like the 19's enough I may end up selling the 21's.

Order new ones with the winter wheels and recalibrate when you switch.

Thanks for the info. But is the 0-60 really 5.2 for S85D?

Beautiful car raphy, nice pics! I love the grey rims and have looked everywhere for grey 19's but guess they don't make them anymore? Your 21's look awesome though!

    Congrats!

@mylake Thanks have to admit those gray wheels really drew me when looking for which car I was going to get. Btw I was worried about the ride. I shouldn't have. It's still incredibly smooth even with these huge wheels. Definitely the ride feel of a proper luxury car.

It was advertised that way in 2014. What it really can do is complicated.

They did increase performance to some cars with firmware updates. I don't know off the top of my head if S85D got such.

Also you get into rollout vs non rollout times.

Early in Tesla's day before ludicrous mode they used to underpromise and overdeliver. Meaning you could hit a random track and beat the 0-60 they advertised. Later after ludicrous mode and 90 packs you see the claimed time push down into the zone where you have to have perfect weather, the right tires, the perfect SOC%, the perfect pack temp, and such to hit the number.

It's a different world looking at promised 0-60 now vs 2014. I gave up trying to keep it all in my head. You'll have to ask one of the track types what they consider doable vs quoted on a S85D now.
