Does Model S allow devices to use its 3G connection?

    No. It was included as an advertised feature before cars were delivered but has since been removed.

    I suspect that won't happen until Tesla figures out how to charge us for 3G access after the free period ends.

    Yes, but originally it was a year for the Signature Series cars and 6 months for everyone else. They later came up with the 4 year free and grandfathered older owners into the 4 year plan effective (I believe) from the date of the announcement.

    The grandfather date is January 1, 2014 for anyone that had a car before that.
