Does the type of USB / SSD affect phantom drain?

I’ve got an M2 SATA drive that I’ve enclosed in an Akasa enclosure that has USB A at one end & USB C at the other Akasa enclosure .
I’m hoping to use most mor music and a bit for sentry and for it to remain in the glovebox.
I’m sure I’ve read something about troubleshooting phantom drain & in that process, removing all USB devices.

Is this a common thing?

Am I better off with a bog standard USB 3 drive?

Any thoughts?
