What great service. Note I have the elusive mid-range, and really happy with it.

Tesla confirmed they had to order a new rear drive unit. Repairs ongoing.

Have a neighbor friend, fellow TM3 owner, who just went through your same scenario with his 2018 LR RWD, at first thought it was the 12V, but once towed to the SC, needed to have there rear drive unit replaced all under warranty. Unfortunately the also scratched the front fender of his car.

No issues with the Ohmmu in cold climates. 1 year & 3 months, no error codes and works great in cold conditions. Will be replacing the Lead Acid one off the model Y soon.

Fred
I’m thinking of doing the same Fred. No issues with cold and no issues with codes, this could be a great answer.

I have a great service guy in Seabrook NH. Electrified Garage. The same guy as Rich Rebuilds. I’m gonna have him replace the 12 volt Hankook battery with an Ohmmu lithium.

I'm 30 minutes from Seabrook. I've communicated with them before but I don't anticipate doing too much with them until the warranty runs out. It's too bad they aren't Tesla-certified because they're obviously qualified to do the work.
Do those guys recommend going with the lithium battery in our cold climate?

to all,

last eve on a dinner run, got the dreaded
"may not restart, service required!"

cautiously passed dirve thru, paid for dinner
and did a reboot on car once at home.
message cleared, however I sche'd service!

teeth chattering after reading here is rear drive
not 12v battery... 7/18 build, purchase 8/18
1st appointment = 31st AUG (san diego miramar)

I included the may not restart msg when making
the appointment, should I make contact w/service
center to determine if they have RWD unit?

Are you fairly close to the SC? For me if I ever see these messages, I'm going to drive up to their service center and have it taken care of right away. Granted Uber credits etc but this is scary stuff.

I second this and then some. My house could be on fire but I'm driving to the SC immediately. You all on TMC have scared the heck out of me that this issue is going to pop up anytime/anywhere.

it was yesterday, SUN and 18 miles to SC
so i just went home (didn't stop or shut off)

as I said a reboot cleared message, however
I know that's probably just a temp view of problem.

I realize now I'm playing with fire, being stranded
etc, or possibly not starting to drive to SC appointment?

given that, my garage is a good place to wait for this
to evolve either in getting stranded/towed to SC,
or driving there on appointment day?

I'd drive there with a pic of the error message. Its imminent failure. You see that message today, clear it a few times and in 2 weeks you'll see all caution signs on, and message about 12v.

....they already have it. just hit that schedule service button.

I did include the error msg when scheduling service
car is in garage, appointment made, so driving directly
to service won't get me fixed sooner, just have car waiting
at service center for parts...

question for those who had this msg/failure, did you need
to have further communication with SC prior to visit?

Dunno about your SC but the ones local will prioritize this over their rattles and what not random stuff in their shop. I would drive to SC to jump in line. That was my point with the pic. They don't even look at the app service appt info until a week ahead. I have had a rattle request for 2 weeks now pending one more week from today. They haven't texted or looked at my request yet.

I understand the prioritizing, but the could be a parts wait
which is why I asked about others whom have walked this
road if they had voice comm w/SC prior to showing up
without or before appointment?

I am good with car in my garage till I determine that factor.
