Dreamcase Model 3 Pictures & Review

The case is used to elevate the mattress a bit to be more level with the seat which doesnt fold completely flat. In the model S's i hear that this makes it very flat, though from all the pictures i can see with it set up in the 3 it looks like it is still at an angle. Outdoors is saying that if he removes the rear seat cushion it is flat enough that he doesnt need to use the case to elevate it.

Speaking of sleeping in the Model 3, anyone found sources for “night shades” that cover all windows? Lots of sources for windshield and roof but can’t find good options for side windows.

Heather's Original Heat shield

2019 Tesla Model 3 Sedan Windshield Sun Shades, Car Window Shades and Car Window Covers by HeatShield - The Original Windshield Sunshade

This is what I ordered. Covers everything including the triangle which lets in a crazy amount of light when all the others are covered.

They use suction cups, and I have been very happy. Are they the best looking. No, but the heat stopping when all are in is amazing.

The full set seems interesting. Could you show some pictures from inside, the website only shows the windshield cover. Thnx.

Sorry for the delay. I was away from the 3 for a while.

Just in general. Not in my thoughts for everyday use. It takes a good 5 or 6 minutes to get them all in. Frameless windows don't exactly help the situation. I do like the top portions and front for everyday use.

Pictures. Camera is exposing to get a good picture. Darker than appearance shown here. 1pm hot high sun. I prefered the light interior. I don't need pitch black, and didn't want gold as an exterior color. Prefered the silver reflection. Also. Uses suction cups. When not in use keep the cups clean. Not just laying around in garage. Keep them rolled up with the velcro. Dirty suction cups with dust don't stick too well until they are cleaned.

I did post the pics once, but forgot the thread. Some say they are ugly. Well I don't usually drive around with them on, and function is what I use them for not fashion.

Thank you. Good Deal. Evannex is $300 this is $200. I could never sleep comfortably in the Model 3 without full privacy shades. well worth the time and money for peace of mind.

I have found for privacy it's easier to flip around, head in the trunk. I have the original rear seat so my seats lay flat when I put them down. Which also means that I can fold them up during the day and hide all my bedding. If I had removed the seat cushion that would not be possible.

I just got back from a trip to LA and I use the sub-trunk for my suitcase, the frunk for dirty cloths, the rear floor for my scooter and my backpack which has shampoo and razor and gym clothes so I can clean and change at rest stops. The mattress is a $40 Costco folding, perfect-fit unit that I toss a sheet set over with a blanket and pillow. I have a thermal mug in the cup holder that I get new ice for in the AM and I have a 3-gallon thermos with ice water to feed the travel mug, made if several days before it ran out of cold. I keep it behind the passenger seat to keep it out of the sun. Also, have a heated/chilled powered cup holder that I didn't use, but would be good for keeping coffee or McNuggets warm.

I supercharge during the day, and then free charge overnight at a mall or city hall, often to 100%. Really great to have the electricity to run the climate system overnight, I have slept at a 100° desert casino. Before I flipped around for privacy people would catch sight of me and keep me up. No one sees my iPhone's light back in the trunk or notices my feet under the blanket. I just wish I could figure out closing the door more gracefully when I get in. Maybe I could tie a rope to it...

@outdoors would you be able to give a review of the product over a year on? have you continued to use it or has the novelty worn off?

Thanks

I am very happy with product. Yet I want to remind everyone that this is still sleeping in a car.

Product has held up very well. There have been improvements in a newer model. I prefer this type of cushion compared to an air mattress.

I use more in the summer and fall. Duvet and covers not really what I use. More of a sleeping bag with a microfiber blanket.

I also just take the Dreamcase and throw it on a picnic table and sleep on that if the weather cooperates. Really after spending a month living in a car. You want to get out. So I use it outside of car as well. Definitely a conversation piece in campgrounds. When people see you pull up and then just climb in the back.

I also leave it fully deployed and don't bring the case with me. I just bring a cotton sleeping bag holder bag to put Dreamcase in and to keep clean. I also have one for the S and prefer sleeping in the S to the 3. Personally I could not do two people in the 3.

Some have said. Why would you buy this when you can buy some mattress off of Amazon and get close and cheaper. I don't want to. I want to buy what I want. Dreamcase it was.

Hope this helps. Enjoy car camping everyone. Really gets you to the destination faster, and for me allows more time in the backcountry than in a hotel on the road to get to the backcountry.

Thanks so much for replying!

I’d agree that I’d much prefer to sleep on a non air mattress.

it would be spring/summer for me I’d think so similar. May I ask whether you’ve had issues with climate on whilst you’re sleeping that has caused considerable battery drain? I’m thinking most use cases would be whilst not charging and therefore wouldn’t be able to afford 30% battery loss, preferably not even 20% but 10% would be fine.

Does it feel quite claustrophobic given the parcel shelf cannot move? Also, if you don’t take the case, does that make it unlevel? The case was probably a key selling point to me as it seems to say that’s what keeps you level?

Personally I could not do two people in the 3.
Is it width and length that causes this issue or is it height/general size of the back? It would likely be 2 that I’m looking for, and it would be my partner therefore a bit cosy is ok, but we wouldn’t want to feel like we can’t move.

finally, could you do a week with this on a road trip? Or would it be more suited to alternate hotel/car/hotel/car?

I use the parcel shelf to hold my books water and other things I don't want floating around while I sleep. Of course I wish it was like the S as a hatchback. I use the brand Heat Shield for window coverings. That keeps my privacy up, and temps down in the summer. When all the window coverings on it can feel a bit cozy.

I remove the back lower seat. Which makes it completely flat to me. I use the cushions that come with the dreamcase as an emergency seating substitute. You are sitting on metal....

Can you do a week with a partner? I think so, but be prepared to spend most of the time outside the car. Can't imagine a wind down in the evening sitting/laying in the car. Make sure you have a place to shower. Could get ripe after a week. 30 days for me is no problem. I use
DUDE Wipes. 24 hour gyms are a popular idea. I am sure there is an equivalent in the UK.

Power usage is really not that bad for A/C. No so good with heat. I look for non supercharging sites that I can charge and take a decent nap. Superchargers are so fast now. I can't even get more than 20-30 minutes of shut eye. Supposedly we are to get some type of lower power usage for party/camping that will enable the car to last a bit longer while camping. As in different than dog mode or always on...
Not sure that is up high on the priority list. I could see that being launched across all platforms if the Cyber Truck offers something to that effect.

Always glad to share ideas and tips for living in an electric car. Never would do it in an ICE.

Cheers

I’ve been looking into the DreamCase for quite some time. It is quite pricey and yes it appears you get what you pay for quality wise. However I just discovered this which should ship soon and costs $249:

TESMAT

Will be interesting to see feedback on this when it ships. I’m tempted! Especially as I can stash it away in the sub-trunk when not in use.
