This release will bring new climate controls to the Comfort Settings screen:

- Fixed FanOnly button in the Cabin Overheat Protection settings.
- Minor improvements to the NFC key card beta functionality.

DRIVE Electric for Tesla v2.8.5 (WearOS) - released.
This release will bring selected charge stats to the Charging screen:
- Last 31 days - total charge in kWh.
- Last 31 days - show percentage between home-, super- and other charging locations.
- Added soc percentage as an item for better visibility.
- Added shortcut: click on the charge % value on the main screen to access the Charging screen.

DRIVE Electric for Tesla v3.0.0 (WearOS only) - new version released.

- This release will add a great new beta feature to the watch: The Bluetooth Low-Energy API.
- You can now use the Tile as a Tesla Key Fob. Open/close commands will execute much faster due to the Bluetooth interface. No need to wait for the vehicle to wake up.
- You can also use the watch-as-key feature, much similar to the original Tesla app.
- This is the first smartwatch app out there to combine all three vehicle interfaces: Tesla API (internet), Tesla Key Fob (BLE) & Tesla Key Card (NFC).
- The BLE feature is linked to your Tesla account and can only be used to obtain control of YOUR vehicle.

DRIVE Electric for Tesla v3.1.5 (Wear OS only) - out soon

DRIVE Electric for Tesla is the first smartwatch app for Wear OS to combine NFC, Bluetooth and internet access to communicate with the vehicle. This turns your watch into a fast and reliable key without having to carry the phone.

  • Added compass view to direct you to your vehicle when lost in a big parking lot...
  • You can now use your watch-as-key exactly like your phone-as-key by enabling a continuous low-energy bluetooth scan for your vehicle.
This will use a little bit more of that precious watch battery, but the trade-off is that you can just walk up to your car and open it.
You can enable or disable this in the app settings menu. Default is OFF, meaning you have to swipe to the Tile view or open the app to connect.
  • A small design change to buttons etc.
  • Prepared UI for controlling seat coolers and Cabin Overheat Protection activation limit.

Since Samsung has stopped making watches with Tizen OS, I will also stop selling the Tizen version of DRIVE Electric for Tesla on the Galaxy Store by the end of 2022. If you have a Samsung Watch 3 or older, make sure to buy the app before the sale ends. I will continue to support and fix major bugs as long as possible. A notification is also provided in the app description on the Galaxy Store.

Sales of the Wear OS version are not affected by this!

The Wear OS version has far surpassed the functionality and quality of the Tizen version. For example, NFC and Bluetooth key support is only available on the Wear OS version. It feels like the right time to stop selling the Tizen version now…

DRIVE Electric for Tesla v3.4.1 (WearOS) - out now
Release notes

- Improved BLE Tile commands. You may have to reattach the Tile after update.
- Cabin Overheat Protection adaptions.
- Upgraded Tesla protobuf file to v4.13.0.
- Enabled Crashlytics-reporting.
- Added header- and TLS configuration in the token renew call to mitigate some corner cases where token renew fails with error code 403.
- Bug fixes.

TIP: To get to the app menu, click the little arrow in the blue tab that appears when you swipe down. Swipe from the center of the screen and not from the top of the screen to prevent the watch menu from appearing. This menu is called the navigation drawer in Wear OS and is a standardized way to navigate through multi-screen apps.

DRIVE Electric for Tesla v3.5.1 (WearOS) - out now
Release notes

- Watch complication: Tap to update and change between percent and range. This complication will never wake your vehicle. Prior to vehicle software 2022.36 the complication will fetch cached data on an hourly basis from the app. From 2022.36+ it will fetch cached data from Tesla.
- Added a warning in the main app when doors, frunk or trunk are open.
- Fixed issue with BLE commands sent from the main app.
- Fixed screen flickering on page transitions and list views.
- Other bug fixes.
- Phone app: The phone app will open the watch app automatically after successful sign in.

TIP! If your Tile looks awkward after an app update, either restart your watch or reattach the Tile again. This is probably due to a bug in the OS.

The picture shows the new Pixel watch face with the DRIVE complication that shows the battery level in percentage.

DRIVE Electric for Tesla v3.5.3 (WearOS) - out now
Release notes

Sadly, there was a bug introduced on watches running WearOS 2.0 in v3.5.1 (or maybe even on earlier versions). This bug caused a black main screen when starting the app. You could scroll down to see the charging- and climate info, but the main info page remained black.
If you bought the app and refunded due to this, please try again when v3.5.3 is out... :)

DRIVE Electric for Tesla v3.5.6 (WearOS) - coming soon
Release notes

- Upon request I have added a setting for Tile confirmations in app settings. This is to avoid sending commands unintentionally.
- BETA: Added a Kalman noise filter to the calculation of distance based on the RSSI signal, while connected to the BLE key. This is used to ensure the walk-away functionality and to limit the range for when the key is operational. The green car key icon on the main screen turns a darker green when the key is close enough. This was a bit of a rewrite, hence the beta status.
- Fixed BLE commands not responding properly when sent from the main app.
- Fixed rendering of the Tire Pressure view on the smallest Pixel Watch.
- Bug fixes from Crashlytics reports.

DRIVE Electric for Tesla v3.6.0 (WearOS) - coming soon.
Release notes

- Added two more optional tiles. A KeyFob tile and an Unlatch tile. The unlatch tile can unlatch any door, not just the driver's door. These tiles require the Tesla Key to be set up and connected via Bluetooth.

PS! As of 2023, the Tizen version of DRIVE Electric for Tesla is no longer available for purchase on Galaxy Store.

DRIVE Electric for Tesla v3.6.2 (WearOS) - out now.
Release notes

1. Improved Bluetooth stability. Hopefully this will solve some issues with the GW4 when reconnecting.
2. Added "shake to connect" power mode to the Tesla Key.
No need to open the app, just shake your watch and wait for the buzz. Then open the door.
This mode uses less watch battery than "always connect", but a little bit more than "open app to connect". Enable different power modes in app settings.
3. Removed splash-screen when resumed from background. Many of you have asked for this one...
🙂

4. Bug fixes.
