Toyota is probably further along in developing solid state batteries for cars than any other company. However, they are stuck on battery life. Although a battery that only lasts three years is fine for a phone, that doesn't cut it for cars. Their most optimistic projection is 2022 for something usable; so Dyson, Faraday, etc are making promises they can't meet.
