I've been a Tesla owner for a long time. I've noticed insurance rates are sky high for Model S. I'm looking at early models that have used values in the $30-40k price range. These cars can cost $50-70 more per month to insure than a brand new Model Y / Model 3 with a replacement value twice as high.
I'm surprised by this. I realize a lot goes into insurance pricing but the difference is almost double.
Are there any ways to insure for an agreed upon replacement value of my vehicle? I had a policy on my classic corvette 10 years ago where we just agreed that replacement value was $25,000 and I paid a fair market price for that.
