Earth Day Gets a Jolt
To help usher in Earth Day 2012, The Dalí Museum and City of St. Petersburg will celebrate with the official activation of electric car charging stations located throughout the city and at the new Dalí Museum. (Earth Day is Sunday, April 22.)
The celebration begins at 10 a.m. at Straub Park in downtown St.Petersburg. Mayor Bill Foster will flip the switch to power one of the City's ten charging stations. Then Brad Morse, Museum Trustee and son of the museum's founders, will drive Mayor Foster and a procession of alternative vehicles in the "Dalí" Wheego electric car.
Participants can join in with their own electric vehicles bicycles, wind or nuclear powered devices, or walk the short scenic route from 170 Beach Drive to the new museum (located 7 blocks south at One Dalí Blvd.) At the conclusion of the ceremony, participants will be offered light refreshments. The first 50 members of the public will be given a Recharge Your Imagination tee shirt.
The Dalí's 2 charging stations, which will allow up to four vehicles to plug in, are located in the museum's parking lot. There is currently no cost to charge.
Cost: Free to all. Event takes place outdoors at 170 Beach Drive and in the Dali Parking lot
