Only an hour from me and never felt
Just a bit of background here - You are living in a continuous earthquake. You're being moved up & down a few millionths of an inch every second of every day. Obviously you can't feel it, but it's part of the elastic crust of our Earth. An earthquake magnifies this millions of times, producing both vertical movement (P waves) and horizontal movement (S waves - the ones that do the damage)). Next time you feel an earthquake start counting. You might be able to time the difference between these wave components, which my fuzzy memory says is about 10 miles for every second between their arrival.

Large parts of the Sierras are seismically active. Google "Long Valley Caldera".

There is always some hazard out there no matter where you live. Yet another reason to manage your own power with solar and batteries. You want to ride into the apocalypse in style and comfort.
