Eastern Canada Superchargers

Ryan - didn't you see the list of "coming soon" SCs that Tesla announced a month or so ago. Belleville is on the coming soon list, just like Mississauga, Brampton, Ottawa, Toronto and whole bunch other locations. I believe it is 17 or 18 locations on this list for Ontario alone. There are actually fewer highway SCs on this list, the bulk of them are in urban areas, especially the 8 in the GTA.
I saw it, and I haven't seen a lot of action at supercharge.info.

I like the Belleville charger, primarily because I get range anxiety when I have to go to Napanee and make a return trip back to Toronto from there. Its about 275km return with local driving for me which is cutting it close on the 75D.

Port Hope?

I meant its 275km return from Port Hope including local driving there. I have a few clients that side so have to make a trip every now and then. First time around (in the winter - it was cold out) I booked the Towne Suites in Belleville which had charging outlets but overnight I barely got an added 15km (loss from the cold was significant i suppose). Just barely made it back to Port Hope. Next time I decided to drive up further and book the Mariott in Kingston that has the super chargers there. (I'll admit I was speeding quite heavily - coincidently tailgating another Tesla the entire way haha - that must've affected range as well)

Making another trip there in 2 weeks, hopefully will be nicer with the warmer weather.

Belleville is only 83km from Port Hope. By your argument, we'd need superchargers in every city more than 75km from an existing supercharger. Your example is a case for decent destination charging - at least 30A L2 at hotels, preferably 40A or more. At Towne Suites, was it a regular wall outlet? That's almost useless. The Best Western in Belleville has 30A L2.

I'm in favour of a Belleville Supercharger to spread the load along that stretch of the 401 (Kingston had 5 of 6 stalls in use on Monday), but I don't see it as higher priority than extending the network to the east (Quebec City and Atlantic provinces).

The Quebec city Windsor corridor should be a priority to anything else in Eastern Canada as it has the most population.

I agree, and so did Tesla apparently, because Quebec City to Windsor is well covered with superchargers now (in terms of reachability). I'm saying that now that that's covered, I would like to see the network expanded east. Yes, they have to think ahead to possible crowding issues in the busier corridors, but when there are whole parts of the country we can't reach on superchargers, that should be high on their list.

Pretty sure the order of rollout has more to do with site availability, negotiations with owner, permits, etc., than the priority of the site.
I agree when it comes to specific locations but there has to be an overall strategy on where to try to put superchargers and that strategy seems to be ignoring Atlantic Canada.

And that has obviously been Tesla's priority from day one since all the Superchargers in eastern Canada have been installed there. Should there be improvement, of course! And it looks like that is in their plans.

But I agree with Peter_M. When you look at the map of eastern Canada and see nothing planned at all beyond Rivière du Loup it is appalling. Of all the places in this country with zero Supercharger support, and none planned, the Maritimes are easily the densest populated, and in a small geographic area to boot. The 2016 census has the population at 1,813,606 and the vast major of which could be reasonably supported with only about three Supercharger sites: the one at Woodstock, NB that for a few years was actually on the "coming soon" map, one between Fredericton and Moncton at the junction of Highways 1and 2, and one at the junction of the 104 and 102 at Truro, NS. That's all it would take!

On one hand I am extremely disgruntled with the progress BUT also grateful for what we have. Tough feeling to reconcile.
Yes. I know what you mean. I have had our Model S about 2 1/2 years now and there is definitely a difference in that time period. The only thing that really got under my skin was having the expectation of the Woodstock, NB charger since before I got my car, to see it gone from even the "coming soon" map this year. I would have been better off if that illusory carrot had not been promised then taken away. But all in all, I can very much say that never have I been so much emotionally tied up hoping for the success of any company like I am for Tesla (and no, I have never owned any stock, sigh). My fantasy (shows my age ) is to have enough to retire, built a nice house off the grid with Powerwalls, solar panels, microhydo power, and Tesla cars in the garage.

Errr...was just planning a trip to the Bruce Peninsula only to realize there's physically no way to do the trip with a same day return. Owen Sound super charger is still "coming soon".

Barrie super charger is 210km away (420km return) on 380km range at 100% charge....no destination chargers or any L2 chargers nearby either.

You can stop on the way at my HPWC near Orangeville. Many of the users tell me they couldn't do Owen Sound.
