There may already be a thread on this so I apologize if duplicated. I'm wondering if there is any plans for different driving modes for the model s. For example, sport mode(full power), econo mode(less power better mileage). In econo mode by limiting the car accelerations capablites might help give better mileage for longer trips. It would be like switching between the two regen modes. What do you guys think?
The recently-released software 4.0 has a "Range mode" which limits the effectiveness of HVAC to get better range. I can see them adding in other tweaks over time as well.
Where did you get this information from? The release notes I've read say nothing about limiting throttle as part of range mode.
There is nothing that the range mode will do for you that you couldn't have done yourself with your foot. ;-)
Again, I think you guys are talking apples and oranges. Range mode, as described, only affects climate control not throttle. If you've found a way to manage the climate control settings on the 17" panel or the steering wheel with your foot, you must be a contortionist and it's probably illegal according to the DMV.
+1. While I may try to drive conservatively in standard mode, I've always gotten the most miles in range. Range mode + cruise control = most range. For me, anyway.
Sounds like applying the Roadster econo mode to the econo mode coming from the latest firmware update. Which could happen eventually, but isn't out just yet.
