From memory that wasn't originally the case, only once their income from charging was such that they were losing money and they had to make economies. Vicious spiral at that point ... Vince talked of doing a deal with Nissan (along the lines of free/cheaper charging for Nissan drivers than other EV customers), but presumably nothing came of that.
I can't see anyone putting in 12+ chargers at a site, yet, without Government help. Given that, for anyone driving out-of-range, why would they buy anything other than a Tesla and put up with all that uncertainty, aggro, and time wasted diverting to alternatives, or having to fall back on A/C charging. Ho!Hum!
