I have a couple of questions so I recently have gone through a lemon law with my BRAND NEW car (not Tesla) and I’m still waiting for settlement check aka down payment. I place my order for my model Y LR with FSD in late July early August. My estimated Edd was Jan as shown when you place your deposit. I didn’t complete my profile until October which is my fault because I didn’t pay attention and it made my edd show for jan 30 to feb 15th. Then it changed again to Feb- March. Checked my app this past Sunday and seen it has change December 18th to December 31st. My check haven’t arrived yet and I wasn’t expecting my car until late jan or whatever it said. Spoke with my advisor trying to figure out delivery. He said it would be delivered estimated December 26th but of course not set in stone. Now I’m sure all Tesla owners or people who are waiting for their Tesla are hearing about a tax credit. I’m not into politic so I don’t know that much information but I’m hearing it may pass the senate and Tesla may apply again for some credits. Do you think Tesla would let me push my delievery date to Jan 1st? When is your official purchase date(asking because if tax credit does pass to my understand it’s affective for purchase in 2022)? When you pick up you car or when you loan application is approved? Also is their a bank that anyone has good luck with a better rate than a 2.49% interest rate that Tesla offer? Yes I understand is on a case by case basis just curious. Also I purchase the FSD before all of the price increases should I keep it is it really worth it I’m just debating? When do you get your vin typically? Last question I didn’t want to get the Tesla charger for $500 but I did order the 14-50 adaptor is that going to be okay for over night charging? Let me know again sorry if this is a repeat questions.
Thank you.

I will try to help, but remember everything is fluid now.

I assume you do not have a VIN yet. Odds favor that when Tesla matches you to a VIN, you will have to take that car at your current price, or the order will be canceled. You have gotten caught up in Tesla's ultimatum to buyers who have delayed delivery. It's the timing. I ordered in late July, no holds, and my car was delivered on Nov. 5th. You may have some leverage because you did not place your vehicle on hold, but rather inadvertently did not complete the initial profile paperwork

As for a charger, the 14-50 will work fine for overnight charging. It's a bit slower than Teslas gen 3, but fine for daily charging. I sprung for the charger.

Finally, consider the cost of losing your order. I'm all in at $53.9k with black paint, you're probably around the same price. Any tax credit on a new order is swallowed up by the price increase. However, you do get the V 2.0 Model Y.

That's where we stand today. Your clock will start when you get your VIN. Good luck.

Yes bad price is the same except for the FSD add a extra 10k so correct around the same price. I do see what your saying as far as not completing the profile well as you state lets see.

V 2.0 model why can’t complain about that.

Thank you for responding. And congratulations on your new car. I have black also with white interior.

You will have two choices:

1. Take the delivery on December
2. Cancel or get cancelled by Tesla
Not really.

I too got the dreaded ultimatum, take delivery or get cancelled.

Tesla assigned me MYP VIN the other day (Thursday) on a Jan 2021 RN, and called yesterday saying the car can be picked up as early as Monday.

I declined and asked to put my RN on hold, even offered for them to cancel if they must. Tesla put it on hold until 5 January. 🤞

I don’t have a vin yet so I don’t know what’s going to happen but good to know as well thanks for responding.

While some will want to wait for potential tax credits or new features, it is normal proceedure for Tesla to contact you when your car is ready for delivery and you will need to make arrangements for final payment and delivery.

It is up to them if they will want to allow delayed delivery, but usually they want to get as many deliveries done as possible before EOQ and especially before EOY. They do not have facilites to store a bunch of cars for those wanting to delay, so you may indeed go to the back of the line if you wish to demure.

So something I didn’t see mentioned is when you’re vehicle is ready for delivery i got a link to schedule the day of pickup/delivery

The earliest day was june12th for me which i took but i could pick all the way to june 28th as an option on the calender

All my purchase paperwork(down payment etc. Monthly payment) shows june12th the day i picked up my vehicle

Based on this unless things have changed when you get closer to delivery when you get that link to schedule your pick up you should have like a 3 week window to pick a day, which in your case should go into January of next year

Again this is what I experienced back in june no idea if this has changed tbh I haven’t checked the waiting forums in awhile

Oh wow okay thank you good to know. I wouldn’t delay my order for it to get cancelled but the tax credit would help but it is what it is at this point. Thank you again good information.

In my experience, the EDD moves as soon you get closer to the date! 😞
With my delivery date now in Jan-Feb timeframe, I’m like “maybe I get AMD and that is good thing…” or “I gone get the car just before the upgrades”.
Who knows? In any case, I would be glad to take delivery now.

It’s frustrating because people are making them self available to get their car. So hang in their im right in the same boat.

Thank you.
I installed a nema 14-50 outlet. I did realize the new gen 2 mobile charger is limited to 32 amps so you won’t get the full 50 amps. This is because gen 1 mobile charger at 40 amps had some overheating/fire issues. Regardless it should still be close to 20 miles/hr charge, fine for overnight and hopefully much safer.

I also installed a 14-50. However, I manually lowered (via charging screen) the charge rate to 32A, which works out to be about 8kW. Tesla will usually set the charging to 80% of the circuit (40A on a 14-50). Rarely do I get home with the batteries of less than 20%, so I plug in and in a few hours back up to my "normal" 80%. When planning for a long trip, I will charge to 98% for the next day. I have had no issues with charging (using the mobile charger) with 14-50.
Sometimes I make it home, start charging, then a couple of hours later, want to go back out. Usually by then I'm easily above 60% which is plenty for running around town. For overnight charging, you should be fine. Good luck on your car and delivery.
