effect of heating vs cooling on range

    This is just a general curiosity question.
    Which has the greater effect on range - cooling the car/battery pack in Phoenix or heating the car/pack in Flagstaff?

    Cold temp hits harder.

    Heating. Although the effect can be mitigated by preheating with range mode off.

    Heating is worse, also because we live in an area that generally sits colder than we like. If you think about it, the hotest temperatures you tend to get are a lot closer to room temperature than the coldest temperatures we get, so we tend to heat more degrees at a time than we cool.

    Of course this depends on where you live a little bit too...
