Quantya, a Swiss company making electric motorcycles that I really, really want - AutoblogGreen and Zero Motorcycles Home I would imagine trials riders would love the constant torque of an electric drive. And with a silent bike they could exhibt in more locations side by side with mountain bike trials . .
Oh and can we change this sub forum from Electric cars to Electiric Vehicles It's all fair game for a site called Electirc performance...
Zero Press La Times covered the Zero. A very temping purchase price. Electric dirt bike ready to ride - Los Angeles Times Website: Electric Motorcycle Videos and Photos || ZERO X || ZERO MOTORCYCLES I would call it The Tesla of Motocross bikes.
The battery is made up of many cells but the ESS is interchangeable so you could be riding while you are charging a spare or two.

Wish they'd give a picture and an estimated price so I can compare it to the volta Electric Vehicle Company, LLC
The thing that bugs me about the Volta is the range. and the lack of highway speeds. I like the looks though.
The range problem for you could be solved / decided by yourself easily. A simple good old fashioned bicycle would serve you well - and would be more appropriate to your tiny purse. There are high quality and refined bicycles in Europe on sale that cost around a new small car thought. If you need info on that truly astonishing high quality products (not cheap but excellent in quality) and its not out of your range - pls. contact me
You mean all those quality european bikes like Trek, Diamond Back, Scott, Marin, Cannondale, Klein, etc, etc...
Not much activity on this site since he handed in his thesis, but some interesting material:- Thesis Proposal Human Electric Trike Thesis
The top end speed of Electric Vehicle's Company's (EVC) high-end volta is claimed to be 120 mph (they have 6 models) which is plenty fast for a highway. However, you pay over $11,000 for the high-end bike. (Electric Vehicle Company, LLC) The range is claimed to be 75 miles. Not a lot, but more than any other electric bike that I know of. I called and spoke to someone at EVC a few months ago and the guy told me that they are also working with another battery producer and plan on introducing a battery pack that will take the bike 100 miles. He also told me that the pack should be ready soon after the bike begins selling and there will be a credit given for exchange of the old batteries for the new pack. Course, the guy also told me the bike was supposed to start selling by August. Doesn't look like they'll make that goal:frown: By the way, are you a bike man?
I am not currently a bike man - though I do have my license to ride. I am seriously looking into the possibility of it. I like the BMW 650 and the new 800. I have a VERY hard time finding a bike that will fit me. I am a realatively small guy I guess. MOST bikes are too wide in the saddle area for my taste (and comfort) plus I have some back problems so seating position is CRITICAL for my comfort.

As an avid off-road rider, this is one sweet little ride. The price is inline with a top drawer off-road motorcycle. I can't wait to try one out in the woods. The only drawback I see is that an average off-road trail ride or enduro measures in at 40-60 miles and 4-5 hours. Waaaay outside the range of this little puppy. It would be a great play bike though! Perfect for motocross or freestyle. My current ICE bike: Gas Gas EC200 Made in Spain (yes, it's a noisy 2 smoke)
