Electric Trucks in Australia

At last some attention is being paid to a pressing issue - electrification of our truck fleet. I wasn't aware that current width limits here will preclude many electric trucks (presumably including the Tesla semi).

Some good points in the article but I guess at the end of the day it depends on which vested interest has bought the favour of the government.

They are not zero emmisions whilst states continue coal burning activities. Just emmisions shifted. The move to renewables needs just as much push., especially in the eastern states.

Indeed, however fuel security in the transport sector is a major thing. Even a small hiccup can have big effects.
Using locally produced electricity, which hopefully will get 'greener' over time is preferable to shipping in diesel fuel from afar.

Certainly vastly reduced emissions though compared to diesel. Coal’s contribution to electricity generation in Australia fell below 60% for the first time last October. And it’s only declining from there.
