Elon: "Feature complete for full self driving this year"

"He said that it will increase by “something like” $3,000, which would put the price of the package to around $8,000."
Tesla will increase Full Self-Driving option price ‘substantially’ on May 1

In any case, Musk also said that the price will increase "substantially". So we are going to see a price hike on FSD on May 1. So don't say I didn't warn you.

There you go again. Quoting Musk as a definitive source.

With Musk’s history we are possibly going to see some excuses on May 1st to delay it a bit, then soon afterwards followed by some price increase that is later reversed totally or even becoming a price decrease.

The chances of the price increase being lowered later are enormous. It is a demand lever for now.

So you turned "it will increase by something like $3,000" into "By the way, Tesla is increasing the price of FSD to a whopping $8,000 after May 1st"?

Granted my wording may be a bit sensationalist but $5000 + ~$3000 = ~$8000. It might turn out be a bit less or a bit more. But $8000 is the expected price give or take.

Yea, this increase will definitely be delayed until May 5th, or so "because of extreme demand". Then they will increase the price and once they need more sales in Q3, or Q1 2020 (quarters where the tax credit will have been reduced/eliminated, creating a demand spike in the quarter before and a dip in the quarter thereafter), they will reduce the price of FSD and FSD upgrades to get more cashflow.

Tesla will need a good chunk of money to get the Model Y production going. It will take some time until they don't care if they have the money tomorrow, instead of today.

(Another interesting idea, since AP is now standard, they can branch off NOA and smart summon into something like an upgraded autopilot for 5k and totally self driving into another 3k package. Totally self driving will enable the car to totally drive itself, with no person in the car, or needing to supervise it!)

n a practical note, does anybody know of any way to actually get the attention of somebody inside Tesla to look at an issue like this? Bug report is a black hole. (Also, in 2019.8, it usually takes several minutes to get bug report to work...)

I believe you need to contact teslaservicena and open up a case/bug report. I've read that bug reports are more like book marks than actual reports unless you have a case open. Whoever opens the case actually pulls all the info from whatever you've identified as a bug for someone else to reference.

Riiiight...

Well, as long as they don’t try anything mumbo-jumbo like that with free supercharging
