Elon says that Neural Networks (NN) are replacing C++ code. Specifically, heuristics are being replaced with NN code. Heuristic is something that is learned through trial and error, rather than something that is known to be true. A non self driving example of a heuristic is the size of tcp window for optimal TCP transport.

This is critical to robotaxi rollout. Few understand this.

Can you elaborate? Are you being sarcastic? Are you saying that AI Day will present information about a robotaxi rollout? Or AI Day will present information about FSD development needed for robotaxis? Or are you saying the Optimus prototype will be key to a robotaxi rollout?

Sarcastic. Sorry, edited for clarity. Although @Daniel in SD has some sophisticated theories about the use of Optimus enabling robotaxis, I think as an elegant means of retrofitting the existing fleet, in the unlikely event the sensor suite or processing power in the vehicle cannot achieve L4. ;)

Optimus will be able to get out of the frunk and ask for directions. It has been established that a true self-driving vehicle cannot rely on maps.

Elon gave him back beta access!

That's the sort of fair & equal treatment we have come to expect from Elon. No ivory tower stuff or two-class system. NO SPECIAL TREATMENT. He's nothing if not consistent. Walking the walk.

The good news is that if he lost access once, it seems pretty likely he'll lose it again rapidly. Overall it has been very difficult to get a strike, latest version not included perhaps. It warns you! I'm not sure what people are doing (there was an issue with very tall people at some point).

This is his (unlikely) story:
