I don't think this interview has been posted anywhere on this forum (if it has, please feel free to delete or merge) Tesla创始人 Musk密ç (An interview with Elon Musk in China) - YouTube I think this was a great interview with Elon while he was in China. Elon brings up an interesting fact I haven't heard of before, that Tesla briefly considered making a plug-in hybrid. He also reiterates his plans to make a manufacturing facility in China in the long term.
Elon was very reserved and respectful, but still greatly confident and unambiguous about his aims. I would think his approach was and will be well received in China.
The only off note was his response to BYD. I would expect the Chinese to be proud of their large domestic car brand. So maybe something along the lines that it's great that BYD is making electric buses, and at least trying to make a go at electric cars.
They played a clip from a show not intended for Chinese consumption, where he made fun of BYD. Bit of a sandbag operation there. Looks like they just wanted to mix it up a bit. He did a good job of recovering.
