Elon is still throwing out pedophile accusations. He has learned nothing.

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
I am really not sure why he does that.

He also claims Unsworth was banned from the site and that the mini sub was built to the specifications of a guy called Stanton, the leader of the rescue team and would have been used, if they hadn't pumped out the water before.

But Stanton says Unsworth is a great guy and the submarine wasn't yet ready for the task.

And if you read the e-mails, it still seems more like Elon is angry about the sub marine claim, than Unsworth being a rapist, allegedly.
His source for Unsworth being a rapist is a google search on sex trafficking in Thailand...

Well, Walters: Human trafficking is flourishing in California

Is that enough to call someone migrating from, say South Africa to California a pedophile? I'd say no, but I found something on google, so it is probably true!

If he has knowledge of Unsworth being a child molester, then please tell it to the police in Thailand! If not, then stop talking about it!

note: Elon has 5 kids of his own. Do you have to be a parent to be appalled by abuse of kids? distraction/disruption for sure

If you don't like volatility, disruption, lack of PR/Madison Ave. values, lack of ad campaigns, no model year, continuous improvement/change, well there are tens of millions of others vehicles made every year and nearly two billion used.

Looking like the Model Y will have the same opportunity as the Model 3. Model Y will crush this SUV niche.
EQ & e-tron neither has a frunk - doesn't look like either gets it to me. Charging? we shall see.
side note: Total Tesla R&D 2010-2017 <$4.4 billion - total for 8 years!
let the disruption continue, go electrification

Before the Model Y "crushes" anything, Tesla had better figured out how to make vehicles with reliability. Many SUVs are used as family haulers. Weird electrical glitches that may render the vehicle undriveable will not be tolerated by the buyers. Long wait time time for parts also will be a deterrent to mass adoption. Telling the soccer Moms that "it'll be fixed at the next update" is not gonna cut it.

Maybe he's short on cash so instead of doing detective work or hiring a detective, he wrote to "suggest that you call people you know in Thailand"

He did do some homework and reported what he found to BuzzFeedNews as a start:

chiang rai child trafficking - Google Search

You know.... there's some google searches you really shouldn't be doing on your computer. I think this one qualifies... someone is gonna end up like Pete Townshend -- I was doing research you see. No... really...

I trust Elon way more than creepy snark diver who lives in Thailand.

It's remarkable how some people will prefer to entertain ever more outlandish theories on what Musk may know rather than to accept that it is an infection with acute and massive Trumpism.
It's one thing to make a stupid comment on Twitter, to apologize and to move on. It's a completely different matter to apologize half-heartedly and then to return again and again to making highly damaging and defamatory statements.
By now I hope that Unsworth will take Musk to the cleaners, so much that it hurts Musk very, very badly, if only to show that even megarich egomaniacs don't get away with everything.
Perhaps Unsworth should sue in an English court. English law is very favourable for plaintiffs in libel cases and there are enough aspects to establish jurisdiction.
The amount of coverage of Musk's latest tweet in the European media was remarkable and to call it "not helpful" for Musk's reputation would be putting it mildly.
Finally, would people please stop to excuse Musk's behaviour with "stress"? He isn't the last remaining surgeon of a hospital in a war-zone, he is running a car company. Hire specialists to assist if there is too much work for one person to do.

Here in Switzerland and Germany (Central Europe) - one of the most attractive markets for Tesla due to the sales and the fact that people have the money to buy a TESLA... it is all over in the News that Elon Musk is a crazy Guy loosing his mind and fighting with a random guy that he calls a pedo without any reason (other than the guy lives in Thailand).

I guess the reputational damage for Tesla is already huge and with every word coming out from Elon it is getting bigger and bigger - I wonder why nobody is shuting up the mouth of this child - seriously. Or does nobody have the balls to step in front of Elon and squeeze his balls really hard and tell him to shut the **** up? I am really pissed with this development and I can only hope that people forget about that. But the last 3 -4 weeks were horribly and that is what we are also seeing in the stock price development.

I think it's obvious that there's more to Musk's belief (and yes, he clearly does believe what he said about Unsworth) than "google searches". In the email with Buzzfeed (which it should be noted was intended to be off the record, not a public statement), he made some very specific claims, even an age of a supposed child bride. You don't get that from a "google search".

He also mentioned people at the dive site not liking Unsworth. Yet some of the "big names" at the dive site who were asked about him liked him.

Putting two and two together... my theory? I think there was a person at the dive site who didn't like Unsworth, who Musk talked with. A person who badmouthed Unsworth to Musk, and whose badmouthing Musk took as literal and authoritative. It would also explain why Musk keeps telling people to investigate with local sources, but not disclosing where he's getting his (notably specific) information from. The only "evidence" Musk would have to disclose would be to name the person who told him that, and he obviously wouldn't want to do that.

If he has evidence he should share it with proper authorities. Making accusations publically diminishes Elon's stature whether the accusations are accurate or not. Making the accusations as retaliation for someone's comments about him appears petty and vindictive. He'd have been far better off just to have taken the high road and ignored those comments.

I don't really agree with this. You portray Musk as just acting out of "revenge". I'm fully convinced that Musk truly believes that Unsworth is a pedophile but does not believe the Thai authorities would do anything (because child trafficking is so widespread).

I'm also convinced he's wrong, but that's neither here nor there.

He may also have believed he had "Funding secured", but, as it quickly proved, that claim had an equally negligible connection to reality.

No responsible adult (much less a corporate leader with a reputation & share price to protect) should go around hurling such a grave accusation without bringing some evidence, e.g. as a witness or though documentation. Then the process is to hand it over to police, in Thailand or even England. If they fail to follow up then publish.

I sincerely hope Mr Unsworth relieves Mr Musk of $50 million in the successful libel action in London, if only as a salutary lesson on the value of impulse control and keeping stumm instead of blurting out his roiled emotions like a petulant child.
