One quibble with the article's author (but not with Elon): Musk was not the first person to come up with the idea of using raw materials available on Mars to power rockets (and the article does not say he claims to have done so, it isn't clear on that point). Robert Zubrin and Dave Baker at NASA came up with that idea in 1990. See Mars Direct - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Read Zubrin's 1996 book "Mars Direct" for more info. Very intriguing plan for getting to Mars, and back.

But right now my money is on SpaceX being the first enterprise to get humans to Mars!
