Elon Musk is 'full of crap'

In its current state yes, even current offerings are not capable of FSD. Nvidia doesn't believe HW 2.0 or 2.5 can achieve level 5 autonomous driving. Once Tesla is able to upgrade its software to FSD however long that may take, it also needs to update all HW 2.0 cars with Nvidia’s newest Drive PX platform, Pegasus as promised to fully integrate level 5 autonomy. Otherwise, it'll just be a half-measure.

Do you actually know what 360 degrees means?? Have you ever seen what a Tesla has to do when it loses track of the dotted lane marker?

Uhhhhh, do you? Tesla losing track of the dotted lane marker has more to do with their software right now, not the hardware. The hardware provides overlapping views covering 360 degrees around the car at all times. The software just isn't using all that information yet.

That wasn't what your original post said.

"Tesla's cameras cover 360degrees at all times, so why would [the car] need to turn? "

And the reason the car needs to turn is because the software is not currently using anything other than one or two of the front-facing cameras so... it can't see all the way around the car without actually turning the vehicle to search for the lane markings.

Your post was talking about hardware however and its applicability to FSD, not the currently software: "Your eyes can turn. Tesla's cameras can't. Big difference." At least that's how I interpreted it.

Jesus. That's SOFTWARE. The hardware is there for 360 degree coverage. The software just hasn't been enabled to use all the cameras.

My original post:
"Tesla's cameras cover 360degrees at all times, so why would they need to turn? Having 360 degree coverage at all times is far superior to having a relatively narrow cone of focus that needs to rotate. The real question is how far off software and hardware power is from being able to process that information effectively and quickly."

Again, THE HARDWARE is there for 360 degree coverage at all times, which, as many people have told you in his thread, is superior to a narrow cone of focus that has to turn. But THE SOFTWARE isn't ready yet. It doesn't use all the cameras and even if it did, it can't yet process that information effectively.

Dude, read the thread instead of taking bits and pieces out of context. We all know it's up to the software. And we all know it's not ready. His question was "why would the car need to turn." My response was that currently it's the only way a Tesla can find the lane markings. Peace!
