I'd be surprised if they had the ground clearance that my silverado does. (almost bone stock silverado 1500 4wd) Very limited off-road indeed. I'd put ground clearance at 12" at best.

This is a crossover ("X") not a true off-road vehicle. I'll predict open differential and modulating the brakes to limit slip.

A very good question...my guess is not much...I'll bet the AWD will be very similar to the setup in the Lexus 450h...no linked transmission between front & rear, but separate electric motors with the computer controlling when AWD is deployed...

All of this begs the question - just how "off road" capable will Model X be?

Hybrid highlander comes in an AWD flavor with a lone rear motor and small diff to provide rear power completely separate from the front hybrid drivetrain.
Fine for pulling out of an icy driveway, but not recommended for real off-roading over boulders and such.

I am going to guess that ModelX will have limited off-road capability, but we will find out soon enough.
