Serious question.
I think he’s simply a ‘successful’ businessman, who invested well in emerging ideas & businesses.
i wouldn't call him either

more like a trust fund baby who invested in hundreds of companies and hit paydirt on tesla and paypal. and now has enough shares to vote himself in as CEO

that would be like Trump calling himself a successful businessman for turning billions into millions and going bankrupt 3 times
 
He also has a few patents (which yes, it doesn’t require a degree in order to file).

From memory, he doesn’t hold a single patent as a sole author.
I worked as a Product Manager for a door fittings company & did patent research with intent to file. Never called myself an engineer
