Talk to me directly, coward.
I know you likely have a good cohesive argument about these things, because you show up in a lot of threads that devolve into politics. Any chance you'd care to share a well written argument with us instead of your signature one to two sentence dismissive posts?

For those who care to delve a little bit into the China policy, globalism, the TPP, and a little bit of Trump's stance on those, it's worth listening to the most recent Freakonomics. I've generally taken the long-time economic line on globalism (raises all ships), but there are some good points in this article about the absorption capacity of China over the last decade or so which have added data points to the economic theory.

I already did. You passed on responding.

Someday you'll learn to hold your alcohol. Swing by and I can teach you a few lessons. Drinks are on me.

... If Elon threw a fuss now and pointed out the new administrations errors and flaws he would just be thrown out and made an enemy. ...

Elon is not going to make a fuss. He's going to explain in a calm, rational, and polite manner what policies he thinks are misguided and why. And he'll likely suggest alternatives. He'll probably be ignored. And no harm will come of it because nobody who respects Elon will be swayed in favor of Trump by virtue of Elon's willingness to tell him where he's going wrong.

I did no such thing. Please explain in more than a few sentences why Trump is 1000x the leader of Merkel. Sources are appreciated.

Too bad. You'd have an excuse.

It was obviously a personal opinion. The source is me. I don't respect leaders of countries who institute open boarder polices to make the bureaucrats at the EU happy. Especially when that puts their citizens in danger.

No Intel, no Microsoft, no Baxter or Medtronic, no ATK, etc.

But I guess it's better than Hillary would have done. With her, it would been all bankers and investors, not just 1/2.

Funny that since the bankers and investors have someone else in their pocket...

Trump Begins Assault on Dodd-Frank Financial Regulations

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/03/business/dealbook/trump-congress-financial-regulations.html

Hillary took money from them and gave it charity. Trump's letting them take money out the pockets of the people who voted for him, without accountability. But let's not let the facts get in the way.

Are you referring to the slaves used in their factories, or that Porsche was lied to. Germans bought coupons to get their Volkswagens, and when the book was filled they received their People's Car. Nobody received their cars, their money went into the war effort.

However, it must be remembered that Germany at the time was socialist, and the government was vested heavily into social programs. They did not approve of unpopular free speech or freedom of association. They had strong gun control laws, and a high minimum wage and free healthcare.

It appears that the DNC currently is very much in favor of the German method of government of the pre-1945 era. It has even been publicly proposed by activist that a military coup should remove the government.

Politically, we are not that different today than the early-mid 30's in Germany. Who will be the Boss though? I 'd pick Soros.

Sorry.. I should keep out of this really...and there is little point in arguing about Guns with Americans .. but just to say... Weimar Germany had a conservative government at the time of Hitler's Rise to power and he formed an alliance with them they were not socialist in the Bernie Sanders or progressive sense at all (although I am not precious about that term) and certainly not as they rose to power ...their first major political enemies were the constitutional Social Democrats (who were progressive socialists), although they fought the communists on the streets and murdered conservative rivals and most of all Germany was awash with arms after the First World War and widely distributed especially amongst freikorps members and the many militias... even the Farmers of sleepy Schwelswig Holstein ran a terror campaign!

Try The Third Reich a New History by Michael Burleigh to get a sense of what can go wrong even in a seemingly democratic society, especially when a demogogue gets hold of the judges and institutions.

Anyway I am glad Elon Musk is talking to Trump. Very sensible. And I can't see any parallels with the above can you?

I really hope you guys are reading and listening to what is actually being said by Trump, in it's proper context, and not just taking the media's negative spin on it. I'm not saying he's a great guy, I'm just saying he's not as bad as all of the negative propaganda makes him out to be. Now back to Elon, please.

Does this remind anyone else of Howard Hughes? I hope Elon's not starting to go crazy:

Thank god for giving us something Elon's actually doing to talk about.

To make sure to spin this fast enough in the right direction I'm going to call you out on it. Just what in the world are you talking about? Why is this madness to you?

Why don't we have tubes?

Instead of pneumatic tubes we have delivery drones (or will soon). I hope you love that buzzing.

BUZZZZ!!!!!

Why aren't we allowed to freely walk, bike, etc on the surface? Instead our surface is a complete eyesore of concrete, and noise. Even with electric cars you have the annoying tire noise.

What do you do with an ugly, noisy mess? You bury it to hide it, and to optimize the space.

We routinely put light rail into tunnels, but it's a little hard to put cars into them. It's hard because these cars traditionally lighted their farts to get down the road. But, now we have electric cars.

Now we can go and stick a lot of that stuff down below us.

To do this we need machines that not only don't break down all the time, but are also orders of magnitudes more efficient. We don't really do it because it cost a hell of a lot to do. So the best thing to do is to try to lower that cost.

Plus it's needed for mars anyways. You might not mind Trump, but some of us would rather be on another planet than that guy.

In fact, unlike Bonnie, right away it very, very much did indeed remind me precisely of Howard Hughes (and given her background, I rather wouldn't be surprised if Queen B won't agree with me...but am sure we'll shortly hear).
The reason is because the Hughes empire began not with movies or aviation or casinos and hotels, but with a magnificent innovation in drilling - the rotary bit:

A modern-day industry you might have heard of - oil production - is so dependent upon this invention that it's hard to come up with what ranks as second-most important.

Now, what I did not know but found out only upon creating this post is that it was not HHJr who created this, but his father. HHJr inherited the company lock, stock and oil barrel at the age of 19 (75% and then he bought out his relatives' shares).

So - there is an unexpected connection between Messrs Hughes and Musk. I'm not concerned that the latter will follow the former's path to paranoia and isolation, unless we consider Mars to be isolated. There is that matter of glamorous ladies, though....

I can check 'Learn Something New Today' off my list. Thanks, Audie :). My 'nope' response was to the comment of 'I hope Elon's not starting to go crazy'.

Maybe that's where I drew the connection from, my subconscious memory of how Hughes attained his wealth, now that you mention it. On a conscious level it reminded me of the Spruce Goose.
