Why is the Model S "P" variant $61,500 more than the Model S base model? Both are AWD and use the same chassis. One motor change and 25kWh of battery isn't $30,000.

Why is it unholy to consider than the Model 3 "P" variant will be $43,000 more if it includes AWD, brakes, a second motor, bigger wheels and tires, etc?

2018 Porsche 911 performance variant base (GT2) - $293,000 (nicely optioned, $340,000)

Many (most?) cars double their price for their hot rod edition. Yes, it is a high-margin option package, not a Blue Light Special.

It is probably possible to sell a Model P3 for $70k RWD. But why not make more money if people will pay it?

The variant from one version of a Model S to another version Model S is totally different the variant from one Model 3 to another Model 3 is totally different.

For example: Behind the scenes it takes 75 humans to make a model S. It only takes 25 people to make a model 3.

Compare Model S to Model S all day. Compare 911's to 911's all day. However its not smart to compare a Model S to a Model 3. However....do what you want.

But they already announced last week that it was going to happen. Making the site go live would not be an announcement that would get spoiled in a bad news day. Just hit the switch to go to the new pages and people will discover it.

I highly doubt the performance model will be in the 60's. A black LR3 is $49k. AWD ~$5k. So starting at $54k. A 100D to P100D is about ~$32k more. That's not including autopilot which I don't see how you buy a Tesla without.

the 100D doesn't come with the premium interior. The LR3 is $44k

Actually I think the matte black car in the video may have been the indeed the prototype car, from the reveal. If you look closely, it had the Model S shaped door handles.

I think Elon is waiting until later tonight when everyone has started Friday night drinks before opening up the order books. Might secure some more Performance orders when people see the specs. Good way to capitalize on online / at home ordering!!
