Not just the left. The whole media is losing its mind that their gas lighting days are coming to an end.

Yesterday Mehdi Hasan was caught lying with his pants down. And the same thing will happen for a right wing nut also. This is why I love Twitter. You can’t blatantly lie and get away with it. Citizen journalists are watching.

Please note that the table only lists a total of 6,578 homicides for 2019.

But the FBI also lists 15,020 murders and non negligent manslaughters for 2019.

At the bottom of the table, there is this note:
  • NOTE: This table is based on incidents where some information about the offender is known by law enforcement; therefore, when the offender age, sex, race, and ethnicity are all reported as unknown, these data are excluded from the table.
There are about 8,500 murders which are not counted in that first table because the race isn't known.

I thought there was some weird requirement that the cars have to be shipped out of the state first, if they were built in Texas and delivered to Texans? Obviously doesn't apply to cars built in Fremont (which are coming from out of state) and delivered to Texans.

I heard that early on, but more recently I have heard of people just picking up TX MY directly, no need for the ship-out. I'll reach out to the people I know in the area, see if someone can clarify.

Woah Woah Woah. That's not true, sorry.

If you are talking transgender surgery, I'm one of those physicians trained in that field and I can tell you for FACT that it is EXTREMELY controversial within the medical field. This is something that patients do a ton of "doctor shopping" to find someone that will give them the answer they want and perform the surgery. The vast majority of physicians in this field do not feel it is an appropriate decision for a minor to make (they can't make legally most other surgical decisions, FYI) and we strongly encourage them to wait till they are 18 and talk to a lot of people that have undergone the transition, undergo psychological counseling so that they better understand the implications of said transition, etc. There are significant side effects, and these just do not get covered in the media, at all. In fact, the side effects get completely glossed over.

The way I've seen the laws phrased is that they're attempting to ban gender affirming care. That sounds to me like it's a lot broader than transgender surgery.

I trained in one of those red states (that has a GF in it). That's not an appropriate assessment. If you read the bills (not what MSM puts out as sound bytes, but the actual bills) they propose deferring these decisions until adulthood when the individual is more mature and capable of making an informed decision. Children have very fluid sexual identities early on, and that's actually normal to a degree, but those children are also EXTREMELY susceptible to external influences (i.e. peer pressure from a friend that is transitioning, etc.) that ebb and flow during development. Sexual and gender identities don't solidify till in the mid to late teens. And more critically, this population, if they transition or not, has suicide rates that are as much as 20X the normal population, demonstrating the need for close psychological monitoring (regardless of transitioning or not).

And honestly, from a medical (psychological and physical) perspective, that's not a bad thing. It's just not appropriate to have teachers bring up those topics to children in elementary school. Even in California, schools have to get permission from a parent to provide sex education to their children, but somehow that can be side-stepped for transgenderism? There is a logical disconnect there.

Then there is the practicality of things - children that transition earlier have much higher rates of wanting to "retransition" back later in life. Many report that when young they felt pressure from various sources to transition, and in hindsight they wish they had not. The transition process by it's very nature makes some changes that are effectively permanent and cannot be reversed medically. I've personally had several patients that started transitioning at the 10-12 yo age that later in life came back and asked to go back to their biological gender. It's a heartbreaking conversation with them explaining how, for example, once the male anatomy has been removed, you can't re-create that no matter how hard you try. Intimacy during adulthood becomes a real problem for these individuals, and leads to greatly increased rates of depression and feelings of isolation.

According to the article linked below, only children who transitioned before age 6 were more likely to retransition back to their birth gender.
Plus medical guidance does not recommend for children to undergo significant, irreversible treatments. Which probably means that most doctors aren't going to prescribe these sorts of treatments for young children. Older children are offered puberty blockers to prevent changes the come with puberty. The entire article is worth a read if you want to hear what the scientific community says about transitioning.

But the side against transitioning will talk a lot about chopping off body parts. I wonder where they get their information? 🐦

Most children who have socially transitioned still identify as transgender years later: Study

Almost 95% continued to identify as transgender.

Amid a political debate about offering gender affirming medical care to transgender children, a new study suggests that among children who have socially transitioned very few are likely to "retransition" to their gender assumed at birth.

The study, published Wednesday in the journal Pediatrics, followed 317 socially transitioned children who had already been living as their authentic gender for more than a year, finding that almost 95% continued to identify as transgender five years later.

"What we are seeing is that a relatively small number of youth retransitioned," Dr. Kristina Olson, a professor of psychology at Princeton University and first author on the paper, told ABC News.

Prior research has suggested a much higher rate of retransition among young children, but many of these prior studies have focused on the period immediately after a child expresses a desire to socially transition. Because the new study followed children who were already 18 months into their social transition, specialists said it offers important context to prior research, suggesting children who persistently express their transgender identity for more than a year are unlikely to retransition.

Under current medical guidance, children who transition do not undergo significant, irreversible treatments such as surgery. Young children don't require any medical treatments to socially transition, while older children may safely be offered puberty blockers to halt changes associated with puberty.

Doctors who care for transgender youth said the study matches what they see in their clinical practice.

“I can count on one hand the number of kids in our 200 plus population who have retransitioned," Dr. Kristin Dayton, a pediatric endocrinologist who works with youth undergoing gender transitions in Florida, told ABC News. She said this study reflects what she sees in her own clinic.

How to Keep Up With Subway Delays Now That Twitter Is Broken

Last week, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which runs the New York City subways, buses, and commuter rails, announced it will no longer be tweeting service updates because Twitter is too unreliable now. Yes, Elon Musk, the man who started several companies out of disdain for public transportation as a concept, made Twitter too unreliable for even the New York City subway. Other transit agencies are considering doing the same.

This is mostly correct, but in the past year things have shifted a lot from that study. There are more and more patients and parents pushing for surgery under the age of 18. We are friends with a couple who's 16 yo biological female is undergoing this right now, and successfully sued their insurance to have the surgery immediately, instead of being put on puberty blockers and waiting till age 18.

And there are assumptions in that article which are just flat out wrong. Placing someone one the "biologically opposite" hormones from their biological sex has lasting and permanent effects, even if they try to go back later. This is the primary reason that the FDA and DEA to NOT grant most physicians the authority to prescribe these medications. Only Endocrinologists have the license that allows for them to write for puberty blockers and the necessary hormones to transition. Other physicians that try will see the prescriptions denied being filled by pharmacists.

There are a ton of nuances that really are not accounted for in MSM, at all.

And, by your own study, the "appropriate" thing would be to suppress puberty until 18 when the patient can make that decision as an informed adult. The bills being passed in "red" states fall along this line, pushing for a delay for the child to emotionally and developmentally mature in order to make an informed decision on their own.

Well, the study quoted in the article says that 95% of young people who transition do not retransition. Do you have a similar study you can share which offers an opposing conclusion that supports your statements?

The issue I have with partisan based news is that it often omits details that are important if we're really going to do a comparison.

In the first case we have someone who fails to account for percentage of the population.
Then in the second case there isn't any consideration of poverty. Obvious if you're poor there is a much greater chance of you being a victim of a crime.

That's actually quite high, and that rate has doubled since the last major study (was 2.5%).

Also, the data on detransitioners is rather small, making conclusions difficult. The topic is covered well in this layman's article:

The above article, correctly, points out that detransitioners are subject to severe harassment, especially from the LGBTQ+ community that they became a part of, and they feel the same from the hetero "normal" community that they left. So while "only" 5% complete detransitioning, many more in my clinical experience express significant regrets about there decision, and this is much higher in the population that transitioned younger.

Remember, this is not a simple process. Multiple surgeries, life-long hormone therapy and associated changes and problems related to this.

Twitter has gone woke. Concerning.

In response to Twitter's decision, Medvedev posted about the "degradation of Twitter" in Russian, English and Polish, tagging the posts with "and how about that, @elonmusk?" referring to Twitter owner and CEO Elon Musk.

Medvedev also stressed that he could do without Twitter. "After all, this is just a foreign social network acting in the interests of the American establishment. We have used it quite cynically to advance our propaganda goals," he said.

That's actually quite high, and that rate has doubled since the last major study (was 2.5%).
...

Maybe I shouldn't comment without reading the mentioned articles in depth, but it seems they have almost the same percentages:
94%, 95% for continue to identify as binary trans, and 2.5%, 2.5%, 2% for detransition back to binary cis.
But it seems more complex because of binary/nonbinary and even re-re-transition (1.3% given), so it seems one would have to spend a lot of time to figure that out, if that is even possible with the limited definitions given.

There are some loonies in the Dem party as well, I'm not sure why you think an anti vax Dem means Elon isn't right wing. RFK is basically a tool of the far right:
19% of Democrats would vote for Adolph if his last name was Kennedy. A lot of Republicans said they would vote for DeSantis until he started making major gaffes. Once RJK Jr. gets some publicity, his polling will fall even farther that Ralph's has.
