I think yesterday's announcement on Twitter was a high-risk low-returns strategy. If things had gone well, the media would have focused on the announcement (not on how well Twitter handled it). But now they are talking about how bad Twitter is ...
It is always about what is wrong on Twitter and Musk handling. It is the same strategy media adopts on Tesla too.

So 10 things can go great, but media will be silent and then focus on the two things that still need some work, and blow it up. Ba&tards.

Ya right. Tesla and SpaceX are 💩
Well, the point is that it used to be the case that most of the people saying this sort of thing were those with an interest (oil companies, legacy auto, etc.). Now many other people are saying this too, because they can see blatant incompetence and failure and chaos on things they are familiar with. So they just happily assume everything else similar is the same. Just another Elon Musk 💩.

Elon is becoming quite toxic. By his actions unrelated to Tesla and SpaceX he's making everything that Tesla and SpaceX are trying to accomplish much harder. Now, every time a politician wants to support SpaceX or Tesla, they ask themselves whether it's worth it to be associated with Elon.

Maybe not yet a big problem for Tesla and SpaceX (which are well funded and successful), but what about his more marginal efforts like The Boring Company and Neuralink? They can be killed by a reluctance of politicians to support an effort tainted by pointless controversy. And TBC can do absolutely nothing without political support, usually in cities. This is bad, moving towards very bad. We investors need for Elon to STFU.

Right. Ford just announced they will use the Tesla NACS connector 2024 and forward. And Farley announced this on a Twitter Spaces with Elon.

Elon's so toxic.

Sometime back - Daily Show had a segment on how bad the new blue check mark is working out for Twitter. But they had to pull in Tesla “blue checkmark is the worst product Elon has launched - and he sells cars that run over children” (showing clown Dan O’Dowd‘s FUD).

It is this kind of association that is problematic for Tesla in the long run.

ps : If EM (ever) sells of Twitter, TSLA stock will go up like NVDA did today ;)

We probably all agree that NACS is a good thing and that this partnership is great news for electric cars in general. With Farley being thankful for the Tesla cooperation, I'm wouldn't interpret this as anything else than that.

Plus, of course, Elon is opening his companies up to charges of corruption. The appearance of a quid pro quo is very bad, whether it is true or not.

Ron isn’t Governor of Texas
 SpaceX regularly launches in Florida.

Molly Roberts offers this observation in today's Post. It could explain a lot:

"DeSantis and Musk, put simply, are betting on each other. DeSantis needs to create his own version of the Fox News audience that so loves his rival. Musk wants to turn his platform into his own version of Fox News — one relevant enough that an Oval Office aspirant would pick it for his campaign pulpit. Yet on Wednesday night, they both lost."

Yes, and Tesla, SpaceX, the "mission", also lost. With Svengalis like David Sachs whispering in his ear all the way.

This bill has been in the pipeline for MONTHS. We all understand your political bias, and that you hate Elon, but you are somehow trying to associate a "free" political announcement on a free platform is "payment" for passing a bill that will benefit not just SpaceX, but any company launching rockets from Florida.

If you honestly believe that, I've got some "ocean front property" in Montana I would like to sell you.

Elon endorsed Desantis last year.

Do you really believe in what you wrote ? The CEO spending his time and effort to promote a presidential candidate is not exactly "free".

The timing of signing is bad - irrespective of whether it had anything to do with the event.

ps : I see some really naive commentary on YT saying he is equally welcoming of anyone from across the political spectrum. What are the chances of any serious candidate announcing the run on the Dem side on Twitter (not that there is likely to be any serious challengers to Biden in the first place)?

Elon endorsed Desantis last year.
Not just that - both are cultural warriors speaking the same language of "woke mind virus". Enough for DeSantis to favor SpaceX and try to burn down Disney.
