So paying for the feature isn't enough? you also have to find a secret method to enable it? I love easter eggs in software, but they're meant to be fun jokes and the like, not actual features that you already paid for.

No.... Perhaps you should check your reading comprehension skills... There is an additional level to even Ludicrous which you do pay for and the easter egg is to unlock an additional level at no additional charge that's not advertised and not factored into the published 0-60 times, etc...

Good lord...

Elon said "to uncork full performance". Not "additional peformance".

So that is implying what you currently pay for is NOT full performance.

This is not a lot difference that saying its a 4 door sedan but to unlock the rear doors you have to find an easter egg.

Not really. Many car manufacturers sell their car with some kind of limitation. For example, you can tune a BMW to get more HP just with software hack. You paid for that full performance in the first place too, but they aren't letting you use it.

Tesla does lots of durability testing, even after the car has shipped. They shipped the car with what was a known, safe power output profile. I suspect that, after some months of testing, they've determined that they push things a bit harder without doing damage to the motor/gearbox.

Yes but BMW is letting nobody use it. If you mod the car yourself it's no longer BMWs liability.

Thats very different than a secret handshake that you give only SOME of your users. So everybody pays for it, and they officially stand behind the feature, yet only some can use it.

Oh please... The moment the easter egg is discovered it'll be all over here and the internet in general... There's not going to be anything secret about it... You're taking the term "easter egg" a little too literally...

Tesla never said how many horsepower you could get out of Model S P100d, they said that it could make 0-60 mph in 2.5 sec. Dragtimes have done it in 2.54 so you get what you have payed for. If tesla now realize a update so it makes 0-60 in 2,4 sec you can't say that you didn't got what you payed for because Tesla never promised a time better then 2,5 sec.
