I've noticed that when my car is regening it becomes much sharper and higher pitched for a second compared to before. It's similar in sound to how the regen sounds when you are driving to a supercahrger, just not quite as much,

Is this happening to anyone else?

I haven’t noticed it. Did this change correspond with a software update? Or random?

Hard to say because I haven't driven it much since the .12 update.

    I believe it’s the stator.
Colder weather is upon us. That means your model 3 will automatically heat up the battery when it feels it needs it.
To do this, it heats the stator, which heats battery.
That produces a whining sound. It will come and go depending on the temp and status of your batteries.

I’m not sure what makes it whine, but based on everything I’ve read and heard, this is your source.

Also I have noticed it tends to be louder when you are at a higher state of charge (when you are showing regen dots, specifically). So if you've been charging to a higher level and it's colder, probably related.
