This is extremely strange. . . The only record I can find of this thing's existence is on my GPS. It's not on the Tesla Supercharger website, and it's not on supercharge.info. . . There's nobody talking about it anywhere that I can find. It's so strange! Anyone know anything about this? I'd love to head down for some cheap golf and even cheaper food/hotel for a little stay-cation. And it'd be great to fill up when I get there in 30 mins. The one thing I thought, I knew I can trust is my GPS. However, seeing NOTHING anywhere else about it give me pause. Any assistance would be terrific on this!
On Tesla's Supercharger page, that's supposed to be a Destination charger Find Us | Tesla When you check Google maps, it's a ClipperCreek with a Tesla sign above it. Google Maps This reminds me of a Zebra I saw in Tijuana.
Plugshare shows a destination charger, but the picture there shows a supercharger being built. PlugShare - Hotel Coral & Marina
This is sufficient proof for a Supercharger. Just added it on Supercharge Info. Feel free to tell me where the Supercharger is located exactly, I just put the pin in the middle of the parking lot. Thanks
OK! Looks like this is an actual Supercharger. The pic from davewill certainly looks compelling. If/when I make the trip, I'll certainly follow up with this thread to let y'all know that it was good to go. Fingers crossed.
I just charged there on Friday the 5th. Peaked at 108kw It’s behind a guarded gate, you don’t need to be a guest of the hotel. Set your suspension on very high for the driveway leading up to the second level of the garage
Um, yes it is. It’s just that you’re looking at the wrong part of the map. (Blue rectangle is your screen), the charger is a bit more south
You looked in the wrong place. Ensenada is like 100 km south of Tijuana. You're map is only showing the first 20 km. Edit: ninja'd by Mr. Plugshare.
This is from last weekend. I like how they block off the parking spaces as the parking lot was jam packed when I arrived. Very nice hotel it's located in.
@Russell I did make an overnight stop in LA in both directions. I didn’t do it all in one day. I would do this trip again and explore more of the wineries there.
How do you guys handle the insurance requirement when visiting South of the border? From what I understand, most US insurance policies exclude coverage in Mexico.
I'm curious, did you decide to make this trip just because of the new supercharger there? Or was it something you would have done regardless, either still with the Tesla but slower charging south of the border or in an ICEV?
Right before you cross over into Tijuana, at the last exit on the 5 Freeway, there are a bunch of places you can buy Mexican insurance for a day, a week or a year for pretty cheap
