Those of us that took delivery EoY 2019: I’m interested to hear what types of issues you experienced, particularly with the build of your M3, and how resolution is going.

As for me:
- Took delivery 12/31 (white/white LR AWD)
- There are 3 main issues I‘d like looked at

1. Alignment is slightly off; steering wheel slightly to the right when vehicle tracking straight.
2. The upper weather stripping/door seals aren’t seated properly on the driver’s front, driver’s rear, and passenger’s rear doorways. It bows inward and outward at points, and seems to be almost completely separating from the trim in at least one place (upper driver’s A-pillar).
3. Doors; some symptoms could be related to 2. Some doors are harder to close, some don’t pop out when the handle is pulled. One handle is noticeably recessed. The bottom of the 2 left doors overhangs the rocker panel at the center, but the rocker panel overhangs the 2 right doors at the center.

As for resolution, the app has been erroring since last night when I try to schedule a service appointment. Sometimes it errors when confirming all of the appointment details, and other times it errors before loading the issue categories. My delivery associate is hopefully going to be able to schedule something for me.

BUT, it drives like a dream! Feels heavier off the line than my 2018 LR RWD but I’m fully aware the numbers say otherwise.

My wife and I took delivery of two M3's on 12/29, both were built around Christmas. The only issue we've found is there was some adhesive residue left on the top rear glass which I didn't notice until later that evening. Took it to a SC and they had it spotless within 5'. Overall we're very happy with both cars.

1) it's been 1.5 weeks since delivery and just noticed my left side trunk lift grinds against the rubber and is barely clearing the glass. Lots of room on the right side. One day the trunk is going to crack the glass.

2) sharp bump on left side frunk lid

3) sharp hanging metal edge on trunk

4) missing right front passenger door red reflector

5) black plastic trim on side mirrors look weird (tip popped out, angle misaligned)

Will request service after I get back from vacation

Hmm, I’ll have to check 1 and 4!

It’s only been 2 days but I have noticed no quality issues in my white/white LR AWD. Previous June 18 LR RWD owner, had 30k miles before accident, so mainly comparing this car to that - both were great! We had speaker issues on the first car and had to have something replaced (don’t recall what, we didn’t consistently have audio playing from all speakers).

we didn't notice any issues while picking up ours on Dec 30th @ DEVON, PA. Both the rear windows, when raised were making a faint squeaking noise. The SA mentioned it is because of the new rubber. If this persists, they asked me to make an appointment to get it fixed it. The SC upgraded my firmware to 40.50.1 during the delivery. I did notice the map data was not correct. The voice command stopped working last night. I did a soft reboot this morning and the firmware got updated to 40.50.5 and the voice command started working again. I saw the notification about downloading new map data as well.

I picked up in Fremont on 12/31. It seemed perfect at first but here are the issues we've found. Also want to mention that my hubby owns a body shop so our review may be a bit more critical than normal. :)

My car - SR+, White, RWD

#1. Driver's side door requires it to be slammed in order to close. The door appears to be more sunken in than the other doors. Hubby said striker needs to be raised.
#2. My frunk has a light dent (size of a fist but barely noticeable unless it is under outdoor sunlight). The Tesla rep actually noticed this too and told us to report it.
#3. Frunk does not close after opening. Hubby said the striker was also off and needs to be raised. Instead he tightened the rubber things (lol sorry I don't know the actual names for it) under the hood so it would close (but this means the frunk is now also sunken in). He believes this is why there's a dent on the hood. Someone was prob having difficulty closing it.
#4. The paint has streaks on it in the rear right back panel. It is almost impossible to see with the naked eye but we used reflective light to examine it. I'm not going to ask Tesla to fix this but we wanted to report it in case they claim we repainted the car (my car is leased).

I'm also having issues booking an appointment through the app. It keeps giving me an error message. I gave up and emailed the service center where I want to take my car in and sent them all of the above and asked them for appointment times.

@LevelHeaded Your delivery specialist gave you their contact number? I didn't get anyone's contact info except for my sales rep (who hasn't responded at all since I left my initial test drive). You are very lucky. I've been hoping to get in contact with someone just to report some of the problems I've had.

My delivery specialist texted me from an iPhone while the vehicle was in transit. If he wouldn’t have done that, I wouldn’t have any Tesla email addresses to contact!

Here's my list:

- Front bumper paint mismatch is just too far out of whack
- Passenger rear window is sticking out and not making full contact with the seal on the upper rear
- Also have the steering wheel alignment with the wheel turned slight to the right ( sounds like they did this to a ton of cars )
- Won't receive updates. According to TeslaFi, my version is 32 versions behind the latest. I am missing a ton of features and improvements that all the other owners are enjoying
- Told I don't own my car according to the Tesla databases. It's still owned by Tesla. It was a demo with 250 miles when I picked it up 12/26
- App won't let me make an appointment
- Service center said they won't touch or look at my car until I own it (they were the only ones that could tell me that was the problem)

The biggest one is the front bumper paint mismatch. I just can't deal with it so it has to be fixed one way or another, whether I am out of pocket or not. I found another Tesla on the lot, after I was given the key cards and shooed away by the delivery rep because they were busy, to compare paint matches. See below. I was led to believe they are all this way, but I found proof otherwise. The one with the 18" wheels was a perfect match.

I'd rather have it aligned by a dedicated alignment shop I use, it's $70 for an alignment, so I'll pay it. And I'll probably fix the window myself so I don't have to deal with someone damaging interior panels while fixing it. I'll take my time, and do it right. I have been working on cars all my life and don't mind doing the googles.

Just need to figure out who can make it so I own the car....

Took delivery of my LR AWD on 12/30, the issues I have found so far are,

1. Cannot download and install the upgrades even connected to WIFI;
2. Some paint chips found near rear driver side door;
3. Cannot make appointment using the app, it always shows the error message.

White on black M3 LR DM. Delivered 12/28/19

Alignment was off. It pulled left when steering wheel was straight.

Steering wheel center cosmetic defect

some adhesive inside and out cleaned up

all pointed out to our sales/delivery rep when he brought the car.

I could not use app to set service appointment so per his recommendation and notes he creates in the Tesla system I took our new Tesla to our local service center.

They were really accommodating even with being slammed and they kept the car the whole day.

4 wheel alignment and steering center / air bag replaced.

Paint I saw a little clear coat run along the edge of the frunk but nothing I would mess with.

Now just needs a good detail and ceramic coating next.

Same problem as you with the Red bumper paint - darker than the rest of the car. I ran it by my wife who is an artist and totally anal about color. She said she wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't pointed it out to her. Since I have had my car since Dec 4 and not noticed it until you brought it up, I guess I never even noticed it at all.

I'm not going to bother with correction. The lighter red bumper is probably as common as the darker ones. It may be harder to find even. I just see no point spending thousands and thousands of dollars (or fighting with Tesla about it) to fix it. As my wife says, "it actually looks normal as it's a different section of the car."

But if it bugs you, get Tesla to fix it. It's reasonable and your right. You paid $2K extra for that paint and that should mean something! Good luck with your car, and enjoy.

BTW, this is a picture of my car at the San Francisco DC. Never would have noticed without looking for it. Then again, I'm not that concerned lot a lot of people are.

Someone posted on another thread that it’s $1100 for a new bumper pre-painted and installed at a Service Center.

I would pay that out of pocket, if they had one that wasn’t from the dark batch, especially if I keep the old bumper because it would have resale value to offset the cost.

I could return the car today. It’s my last day to take that option, but that would be losing around $4k ($1875 for tax break, it was a car before the $1k price hike, and I got $1050 for the 250 demo miles on its odo).

Other than these simple issues, it seems like I got a good one.

The math makes a $1100, minus the original bumper resale (maybe $300-$500), not seem like such a big deal to be happy with the car.

I know it’s a personality disorder, but it’s my disorder, and right now I don’t even want to look in the direction of that bumper, nor do I want anyone else looking at it. It’s an embarrassment to me and the Tesla community. It’s definitely not an advertisement that Tesla has resolved their bad reputation for build quality issues.
