Some owners report that you can't use the app for an appointment since your car is not registered as owned by you for the first 7 day refundable period.

It goes beyond not being able to use the app for an appt for me. I can't make an appt period because the SC told me they won't work on a car that I don't own. That approach makes it hard to use the 7 day refund period if you can't find out if Tesla will fix issues you are having, and one thing Tesla excels at is having initial quality issues.

1. Some marks I can't get off rear seats - I know it's easy to clean, and I was able to clean other stuff with a wet towel, but these two seem forever...
2. Driver side door alignment - hard to shut, same issue as a few others. It seems the front of the door is somewhat sunken in, towards the rear of the car the door is more outwards so might be alignment.
3. Due bill items from delivery for paint - honestly they buffed out most stuff during my delivery, so I probably won't pursue these little things.
4. Gap on driver side rear seat window - this just has to do with the sealer thing that goes around the top of every window - it's kinda bumpy and ugly. Not smooth? But meh.

I also can't make the appointment through the app so I emailed the service center although maybe I just need to take it in or call them... cuz I want HomeLink installed too!

how did you find the email address for your service center?

Took delivery at the factory on 12/31 AM. I need to get it detailed to better determine paint quality, but seems very good thus far. Only imperfections I can find are:

  1. Charging point door is not flush at the upper right corner.
  2. Two small nicks on the edge of the frunk that are only visible when open.
  3. Scuff on rear seats that came right off. I have white seats.
I see many folks mentioning closing the doors seems difficult at times. I have experienced this with all model 3s I have used. A 2018 and 2019 on Turro and now on my 2020. Normal speed/pressure will not fully close any doors, including trunk, but I don't have to slam them either. It's almost as if the doors are lighter than most other cars.

I am in love with my car and might have to join Uber as an exscuse to drive more.

Regarding the bumper paint color mismatch. The bumpers were painted in another paint cycle with a different paint mixture vs the car’s paint cycle/mixture.

A good bodyshop could refinish the bumpers to match as closely as possible.
Hopefully Tesla has good body shops.
They should step up and take care of this.

To me it looks like they used a difference batch of paint.

Way back in 2000 when I was buying a new Accord, the paint on the bumpers was slightly darker silver than the rest of the car. The dealer claimed that it was because the bumpers were made out of plastic or some other sort of material different from the rest of the car. Not saying that is the case here or an excuse, since this issue does not seem to occur in all Model 3s.

Could be due to this. Your brand new car might not be completely new after all

I turned down delivery of my P3D due to 4 or 5 dents/dings on doors and panels on both sides of the car. Absolutely unacceptable. They brought in a paintless dent repair guy to address these but there was one dent at the edge of the door that they couldn’t fix and was going to need a visit to a body shop. There’s no way in hell I would ever pay this much money to buy a car and then drive it straight to a body shop in hopes they can leave it looking like new.

Best of luck to those of you with mismatched bumpers.

I had success getting a service appointment scheduled by visiting the delivery center, speaking with my delivery specialist, and then walking into the service center.

It seems that it takes some time after delivery (at least more than a few days) to allow service appointments to be scheduled; major problem when trying to address things during 7-day return period!

Like others have said the door was an issue I had.

It was up quite a bit on the driver side. I had it realigned at a service center but now it won't close as far and sticks out a bit, allowing more wind noise in. I've also had some leak issues.

The two pillar cameras are constantly out or sending me warnings even with nothing blocking them.

I get the same pop you get when supercharging (I got about 7 when supercharging for 20 minutes) when driving. I get 2-3 generally driving over hills.

I'm new to this so i'm trying to be patient. Just feels like a rushed product at some points in time. Other than that there are just so many little pieces of the car that seem locked in place but rattle on roads when it's not super smooth.

Someone posted on another thread that it’s $1100 for a new bumper pre-painted and installed at a Service Center.

I would pay that out of pocket, if they had one that wasn’t from the dark batch, especially if I keep the old bumper because it would have resale value to offset the cost.

I could return the car today. It’s my last day to take that option, but that would be losing around $4k ($1875 for tax break, it was a car before the $1k price hike, and I got $1050 for the 250 demo miles on its odo).

Other than these simple issues, it seems like I got a good one.

The math makes a $1100, minus the original bumper resale (maybe $300-$500), not seem like such a big deal to be happy with the car.

I know it’s a personality disorder, but it’s my disorder, and right now I don’t even want to look in the direction of that bumper, nor do I want anyone else looking at it. It’s an embarrassment to me and the Tesla community. It’s definitely not an advertisement that Tesla has resolved their bad reputation for build quality issues.

To be honest, its definitely not your fault. But, I don't understand what it's about. The pictures below were taken in the sunlight today. The color difference is much less pronounced. In a garage they look very different than they do in daylight. It still doesn't make them acceptable - but for the life of me I can't figure out what it's all about. I;m still going to keep the car as-is, though looking in the sunlight made it look much much better.

Ironically, the rear bumper matches far far better in the garage light and in the sunlight too. The problem is documented on the Internet, and I suspect that Tesla has been fighting this one all the time.

But yes, a few minutes when putting the bumper on and checking visual issues would fix this enormously. A few minutes!!!

Here's my list:

- Front bumper paint mismatch is just too far out of whack
- Passenger rear window is sticking out and not making full contact with the seal on the upper rear
- Also have the steering wheel alignment with the wheel turned slight to the right ( sounds like they did this to a ton of cars )
- Won't receive updates. According to TeslaFi, my version is 32 versions behind the latest. I am missing a ton of features and improvements that all the other owners are enjoying
- Told I don't own my car according to the Tesla databases. It's still owned by Tesla. It was a demo with 250 miles when I picked it up 12/26
- App won't let me make an appointment
- Service center said they won't touch or look at my car until I own it (they were the only ones that could tell me that was the problem)

The biggest one is the front bumper paint mismatch. I just can't deal with it so it has to be fixed one way or another, whether I am out of pocket or not. I found another Tesla on the lot, after I was given the key cards and shooed away by the delivery rep because they were busy, to compare paint matches. See below. I was led to believe they are all this way, but I found proof otherwise. The one with the 18" wheels was a perfect match.

I'd rather have it aligned by a dedicated alignment shop I use, it's $70 for an alignment, so I'll pay it. And I'll probably fix the window myself so I don't have to deal with someone damaging interior panels while fixing it. I'll take my time, and do it right. I have been working on cars all my life and don't mind doing the googles.

Just need to figure out who can make it so I own the car....

I called up to the Plano TX Tesla Showroom where I bought the car and talked to someone in Sales. I explained what's going on with me not being shown as the owner of the car, and he said he would look into it. Didn't have any confidence, but about 3 hours later, I received the glorious notification to upgrade my firmware, and I am now able to make a service appointments.

It shouldn't be this way, but it's a huge relief to me to finally be listed as the owner, have the latest updates, and have a service appointment scheduled. We'll see what happens with the bumper on Wednesday when they finally look at it.

Yeah, you know they see the problem at the factory, and then someone yells, "ship it anyway!"

Mine looks worse than yours in the daylight, but even worse indoors. My car is definitely painted 2 different colors!

I agree. That's severe - and should be fixed or replaced. I assume your back bumper is OK. How can they miss these things?!

Well at least Tesla know you own the car and it's gotta be uphill from there. Good luck.

My steering wheel alignment is off to the right for 5 degree I would say. Took delivery 12/30. This alignment issue bugs me since every time I engage AP I started to think my car is off by just looking at the steering wheel... Did anyone got this fixed as for the EoY delivery??

The earliest they could get me in to fix this and a couple other issues is in a week.
