Europe has mandated a CCS charging port standard, will Model Y come with this in the USA?

I doubt it. Tesla loves proprietary solutions to lock you into their ecosystem. No CarPlay/Auto nav support, captive body shops, no third party repair, etc.

Short of regulators forcing them to, North America customers are stuck with one proprietary network clogged on holidays and those times we are most likely to do road trips.

A Chademo adapter that is super slow was introduced to support Japan, but those stations are getting harder to find in the US. Tesla at least could offer a CCS adapter like they have for the Model S/X in Europe which should be an easy fix.

If you drink enough Teslaquila AKA Tesla kool-aide you will not see any problem with their approach.

They made the change in non-US countries with the Model 3. If they were going to make changes in the USA they probably would have done it from the Model 3.

They released the NA Model 3 before Europe pressured them into supporting CCS-2 so maybe they will start with that on the Model Y. Since there are so many proprietary superchargers, they would need to have an adapter for a CCS Model Y. What connector did the Model 3 get in China?

The title states the question.

It would certainly solve the problem of all those Model Y's in 2021 fulling up slots in Tesla's North American Supercharger network, right? :)

So the simple answer is the Model Y in Europe is expected to ship with the same CCS2 as the Model 3.
In North America, it'll ship with the same Tesla-specific connector as the Model 3, S & X
In China, it'll ship with the strange China-specific dual connectors.

No reason currently for Tesla to change.

Dual connectors would work. If there isn't room, put one on each side. At least have it as an option. I think folks would pay $1000 extra to have a standards-based solution in addition to the proprietary Tesla approach.

Let folks choose from all the different options for the passenger side to support border areas and movement.

No reason to change--except to future proof the vehicles. Just wait for the pushback and massive drop in value of the vehicle if and after the government mandates such. A dual outlet or using the European spec version would prevent such a hassle.

I think the dual connectors are needed in China because that country has different connector designs for AC and DC, so you need one of each, right next to each other.

We have to come to terms with North America missing all the good stuff. China gets price reductions on the Model 3 and the design/production of the next consumer vehicle.
...
EM should show us some love.
Chinese auto market is the largest in the world now. At last check, the # of EVs + PHEV sold in China is about triple that of the US. There's a lot of competition there, as well. See the Jan to Nov 2019 sales chart at "Model 3 & The Disciples" — China EV Sales Report | CleanTechnica.

Per Tesla cuts price for China-made Model 3 vehicles before delivery, the price cuts are partly due to subsidies. Unfortunately, the Federal govt subsidies here in the US have been moving the opposite direction w/the Federal tax credit for Tesla EVs having reached 0.

North America saw a $500 price increase in the Model 3 in the last few weeks. In China, part of the decrease was a Tesla price cut and part comes from a government subsidy. China gets the next car design too for the global market.

An adapter from CCS-1 to the Tesla connector for North America is all I want.
