It appears that you are automatically covered for third party under a UK policy when driving in the EU at least until the end of this year but is that correct? I am with Direct Line - any ideas on the cost of upgrading to fully comp for a 2/3 week trip to France? Thanks.

My Direct Line policy taken out last week 100% says that you get third party coverage in Europe.

Only your insurance company can answer that - eveyrone else will get a different price

With LV you get 180 days fully comprehensive to travel in the EU.

Cost me around £60 for around 30 days in Europe in July 2020.

Last year DL charged me about £40 for Euiopean Fully comp cover which was about 10%, although that could have been £15 admin and £25 actual insurance. Seemed reasonable given you're on the wrong side of the road
