If all of you got a Delivery date of this year and the EV credit is effective as of Jan 1, will you be delaying the pick up of your car until next year? Or Take delivery this year?
But we have no guarantee it'll be effective Jan 1.... it'll need to pass in the next 2 months? That said, the current iteration allows for the $7,500 limit to lift retroactively so we all could receive at least that much
This is incomplete and non-factual information. With the current version of the bill, Tesla would still be eligible for $8k to $10k in credits vs the potential $12.5k that unionized manufacturers would be eligible for. There are two versions of the bill in discussion. More info here: The Clean Energy for America Act and Its Potential Impact on Tesla (October 2021)

Yes, exactly, thanks for calling that out - eliminating the cap is a part of the proposals from both the House and the Senate, which means that Tesla will once again be eligible to receive the point of sale credit. The only difference between what Tesla (or Toyota, VW, Hyundai, Nissan) would receive vs. those that have an Unionized workforce is in the total amount. $8k is 12%+ of the total cost of a MYLR = pretty significant, IMO. I don't see how the proposals are excluding Tesla, is my point. The debate lies on whether you agree with unionized automakers getting a larger credit, which is a separate (and political) issue.
