Existing Inventory refreshed Model S

Hello,
I was looking at the Tesla existing inventory for a new refreshed 2022 Model S as my original order was showing the delivery for April. I did see quiet a few show up ( 2/3 Long Range cars and not the Plaids) but did not meet my choice of selection. After a while I found one almost similar to mine with a different color and decided to go with it.

I have my pickup scheduled for day after tomorrow (Dec 30th) and now I am wondering was there something really bad with the car that someone rejected it? Should I just wait for my original order for April as this might not be a good one. Any suggestion is really helpful.

Thanks

There is a price to pay for inventory because of its nature.

It used to be cheaper because it is not guaranteed to be brand new although it could be if you are lucky. It's inventory because it could be from very good reasons to very bad ones. It's just your luck. The cheaper price compensates for the uncertainty.

Now, it maybe more expensive but its nature is still the same. The costlier price reflects the shorter time of delivery.

If a customer can't pick up the car within 3 days, can't pay, financing falls thru, etc., car goes to another buyer. If a buyer rejected the car, Tesla will likely have repaired it. I wouldn't have much reservation in getting a car like you are doing. Just check it out real good. Even if you find something you don't like, there are very few things that cannot be fixed back to factory. So, in the worst case, you may be waiting for a service visit to get the car the way you expect it to be. Sounds like it will likely get you a car quicker, with about an equal chance of your rejecting either car as delivered.

Thanks for the input. That absolutely make sense! I will check the car thoroughly.

all LR Model S Refreshed come with FSD. Can I cancel this after I placed the order? I really do not need FSD at all.

I just placed an order for a red Model S LR Refreshed. However, it comes with FSD which I do not need.
If it is an inventory car that you bought then they can remove it for you before you purchase, just get someone on the phone. I picked up an inventory Plaid a week ago and had them do the same thing for my car.

Yes, the existing inventory for mine showed FSD. After placing $250 deposit. I went to my account to complete the order and on the side there was an option to remove FSD. I could do it online itself.
But if you have completed the order with FSD, then your delivery specialist or SA should be able to take care of that and generate a new Purchase Agreement.

I took a look at the vehicle today.
There were panel gaps and few minor issues on the exterior which I was okay honestly and was willing to let it go. I had to seriously request Tesla to allow me to take a look inside with accepting the delivery (It wasn't easy). After a while they did open the door and let me take a look at it.

We found some major issues in the interior side of the back seat beside the rim. There was a huge gap. By huge I mean my whole finger could go inside without any issues. I showed it to the delivery specialist and they asked me that I can book an appointment and I could take it there directly right now.

I am like I am not buying a second hand car. There were few other issues too and I did not get to the part where I could check the entertainment center and all the electrical.

With all that said I rejected the delivery. I am still going to wait for my build to be available.

Any idea how long does it take for the next one after rejecting one??
