Explain tri-motor to me

Is the census out for offroad?
Will the tri-motor help in any way? or will it strictly be for a faster truck that can pull more?
It means both wheels in the back can be individually controlled independently of the front wheels so should help with traction as well should they choose to do the work in software. Think options of having a posi, open or locking diff behaviour on back end ( assuming that's the end that has 2 motors are )

Also think of it as a 3 speed transmission, each wheel can be geared for different purposes based on the user settings. Max Towing (every wheel pulls), Max efficiency (front motor pulls), offroading, (independently driven based on traction), max top speed (one can be geared really high), max acceleration (you get the idea.....)

Also you have triple redundancy in case of failure of 1 or more motors allowing you to continue your trip.

Also imagine the ability to turn a large truck like this around using technology similar to Zero Turn Lawnmowers in a tight space like when offroading or trying to turn around in a tight lumber yard. Also on road steering becomes more dynamic with this setup.
