Ditto; ran the resistor I’m using through ~6.5W using DC current and it got to ~300F/150C in about a 1-2 mins. Plugged the same (part number) resistor to the car, had someone put the car in drive/reverse for a few mins, and the resistor didn’t even go up 1F. Plus, I’ve driven ~600miles so far and no damage to the TE connector.
Cool thanks for the update. Will report back with some FLIR pictures when I get the parts from TE :)

Here is a picture after playing boombox for 2-3 mins... I'm missing a really good mounting positioning, and the resistor is quite exposed.
I'm going to try with the ducttape maybe with the bubblewrap instead

I recorded a video... I'll post it here once edited, however this was my solution, the resistor is rated for 100W, I thought I'd make sure it can handle more than what the speaker is rated for.

So far, no more super loud ufo sounds!
How are you mating those wires with the Tesla’s harness? I was hoping to hook the resistor up to the abstract ocean isolators so it uses the same connector, but it seem like I’m missing something (like a wire receptacle: 1718762-1 : AMP MCON, RECEPTACLE AND TAB ). Maybe you don’t need that since it looks like you’re using solid core wire?

That's correct. I couldn't find a matching connector and I didn't want to splice/tap into the wires as I needed this to be fully reversible.
The solid core wire fit perfectly into the female socket and that works for me.

I'm hoping to have some time this week to put the video together because it contains all of the info you'd need to do the same.

I ordered some parts to get an "oem quality" fake speaker contraption:
- https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetai...BB9Ce5N%2Bg==&countryCode=US&currencyCode=USD
- https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetai...6uB5nwJRlHA==&countryCode=US&currencyCode=USD
- https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetai...mMuUjDeJWlg==&countryCode=US&currencyCode=USD
- https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetai...UlWscuFboXQ==&countrycode=US&currencycode=USD

Basically it includes the female connector for the Tesla wiring harness, wire receptacles, cavity plugs, and a 25w 4ohm prewired resistor.

Should (hopefully) end up with a nice "from the factory" look. Probably overkill, but all in it was around $40 shipped for two sets of these parts. They should get here by the end of the week - I'll post an update about how it works out.

Update: the above listed contraption worked perfectly. Definitely skip the cavity plugs though - the wire attached to the resistor I listed already fits snug inside the connector cavity since the wire diameter is quite large. Totally happy with the outcome, and I was finally able to install 2022.28.2 and 2022.36.6 back to back without any warnings about the speaker.
also, left the car in reverse for about 10 minutes and the resistor was still ice cold to the touch.

Any chance you took any pics?

Thanks for posting these parts. Everything worked perfectly for me too.

Also wanted to add the parts link for anyone looking for the male connector that will seal off the speaker itself: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/571-1-1718643-1 This looks to be the same part that comes with the Abstract Ocean kit. I also bought two cavity plugs to seal it off too.

As stated above, definitely skip the cavity plugs for the female connector that attaches to the wiring harness.

Don't forget to order at least two of the wire receptacles (1718760-2). Or extras in case you screw up the crimping.

Yep, I recommend getting at least two extra wire receptacles since they're pretty finicky to crimp - the wire's resistor is honestly a ridiculously large gauge. I ended up trimming some of the stranded pairs down to reduce the thickness for a better crimp.

Good call mentioning the male connector - I left that out since I already had some from the first round of trying-to-defeat-Tesla's-speaker before they added the presence check in an update.

Any chance you took any pics?
Yep, they're attached. I mounted the resistor by sticking it to the crash bar with VHB tape which I'm not thrilled about. I'll probably end up adding a zip tie to give the connector some strain relief at some point.
